Very sad to read in today's Oxford Mail that Jim Hunt passed away on February 2nd, aged 91. A true gentleman, club secretary and a great help in the creation of the London Road Travel Club. Thank you Jim, rest in peace.

Very sad news - I shall always remember him going up the steps at Wembley, a sign of the esteem in which he was held.
I am sure there will be a tribute at the game on Saturday.

Remember him as secretary of the supporters club back in 72, I think he took over the football club role from Brian Trusscot.
Loved his football, and cricket. RIP Jim.
PS greenmurphy - are you getting him mixed up with Ken Fish ?
pps Is this in wrong section?

Jim was one of the great pillars of Oxford United and a really nice guy. When we got promoted to the old first division, it was decided to make home games all ticket. I was living in Redditch and then Warrington. I was naturaly concerned it might not be so easy to get tickets. He wrote to me and said anytime I needed a ticket just to give him a call. He was true to his word, and personally sent me a ticket for the Milk Cup final. It was people like Jim and Vic Couling, another fine pillar of the club that made this club so great. They always had time for a chat. RIP Jim, I'm sure you've already improved ticket arrangement for games in heaven.

When we talk about legends it is usually an ex player whose name comes up. But Jim Hunt was one of those guy's who gave his all for this club, over a long period of time, was a true gentleman to everyone, and deserves a place in the history of Oxford United as a legend. RIP.

Roy Burton is a good friend of mine, when I couldn't get a ticket for the semi final at Villa park,i asked him if he knew someone who could get me a ticket. He gave Jim a call and he came up with the goods,Burtie had no interest in football whatsoever and only if someone twisted his arm would he turn up at the Manor after he retired,Jim knew this,so asked "whose it for Roy,i know you wont be going to Birmingham" Burtie laughed, but Jim still produced the goods. Great man, loyal servant, greatly missed. R.I.P.

No, Mick Brown took over directly from Jim Hunt, so Mick has now done over 25 years as club secretary. I think Roy Grant may of taken over from Mick as Ticket Office Supervisor and had that role and then Asst. sec. Role until he left the club. RIP Jim Hunt

PS greenmurphy - are you getting him mixed up with Ken Fish ? pps Is this in wrong section? Oh yes I am of course. Which is silly of me as I saw Jim Hunt most weeks from my seat in the Beech Road and can picture both faces quite clearly. I remember the announcer getting his name wrong one day too (we can laugh in death can't we?)
