Was out all day with the boy fishing so took the wireless with us and listened to the whole Radio Oxford build up, game and post match. On a whole, excellent. Very insightful and passionate. Jerome is very very good. Nick is Nick! But remains very professional and insightful.
One grumble. That's Peter Rhodes Brown. He is awful. He was very patronising towards Stevenege (ignore the fact they deserve it. He's meant to be representing Radio Oxford and be a summariser) He also works for the club so shouldn't be offering out those opinions. When commentating its players by their first name. Very difficult to follow when we've a squad full of new players. He's always trying to drop little bits of him into the commentary. "I spoke with x this morning. "Player x said this to me pre match.
I noticed before they closed that radio oxford said Basham will be doing the Luton game next week. Having met Basham whilst he was Ox City and also heard him on the Radio. I can't help feeling that this would be a much better road for them to go down.

PR-B is like a typical local radio commentator. If you listen to five minutes of any other club commentary their teams are all the best in the world and the opposition are useless, cheats, rubbish etc etc.
It is huge credit to Nick, Nathan and Jerome that they call the game how they see it.

The pros are high class broadcasters, (especially Jerome), but come on they are as biased as all blazes. Would we want it any different ? I love Nick H's on loop description of an opposition goal. 'Hunt ....to Wright... to Mullins ... oh the ball's in the back of the net.' ps Selfy is OK as well.

Other Nick Harrisms....
"This is a VITAL VITAL game (probably against Cheltenham in the JPT)" "Up go the heads" (every corner or dangerous set piece) "Chips it up golf-style" (describes a hoofed free-kick forward - doesn't say it much these days) "That scoreboard away to our left/right reads..." "Shooting chance" (whenever we/the opposition are 5 yards or less from goal) "CRRRRRRRUNCHING challenge" "And that ball is in the BACK of the net"

And he sends it back from whence it came. And the neon lights away to our left pierce the dark night sky

When I listen to him he gets so worked up when our goal is being attacked...... He's going to give me a heart attack.

Agree totally with the OP.
PRB is far too close to the club to be a summariser (it is clear that he can't say what he wants to at times) and Basham would be far better.

I'd like to hear from the opposing manager after F/T, like you would if it was on 5 live or MOTD. Would make for some interesting talking points

How can one listen to the game outside RadOx range? Really annoying the BBC oxford website cuts off coverage to general users before KO. Does one have to subscribe to yellow player in order to hear commentary? I think this is ridiculous.

Unfortunately it seems to be an agreement between the football league and the BBC, so if OUFC opted out there wouldn't be any coverage at all.

Get the football league app and subscribe to that. Much cheaper than yellow player.

I've just listened to Graham Westley on the Stevenage player, he said that they controlled the second half and had the better chances, definitely not the same game that I watched !! Would have been a total waste of 2 or 3 minutes of airtime

Disagree with OP. I like Rosie's input- he gives a different perspective to Nick and Jerome, insight into goings on behind the scene etc. having said that Basham was excellent when I heard him on rad Ox a few weeks ago.

I thought Basham was really first class the other week - I think he should be invited back at regular intervals. It would be marvellous to hear Dave Kitson play that role as well because he is so articulate (as he demonstrated on the Football League show) although these days he probably has better things to do than hang around the bottom of League 2.

Two different sorts of players Basham who loved the club & always wants to be involved with us Kitson didn't & only came for the money

Kitson had nothing to prove and why would he want to hang around ? I never really understood Basham's love for the club as he never really scored many goals and and had much success and it wasn't like playing at the Kasstad had any character or loveable presence, unlike the Manor. I never really though he was that good tbh. Nothing against the guy and his work rate.

He may of really enjoyed his time @ OUFC, but he didn't play for OUFC out of love for OUFC. Lampard didn't love Chelsea. He loved the fans while he was an employee of the company.

Ok I've worded it wrong but I'm only going on his previous with him saying he loved his time at the club, many players come & go without a thought but he's always been around oxford after he was released from the club & was never bitter about it now he's retired he wants to be involded in bits & pieces to do with oxford now & again which is a nice touch
