Just thought I'd throw it out there as to what people think since we've removed the banter, controversy and prickly debate that made reading N&I unmissable.
Perhaps it was looking out the window just now and seeing grey skies that prompted me !
Just gauging views, not provoking anything.

Yes, I'm with MB, It's nice not having the forum littered with b*llshit wind-up threads.

This section was always pretty boring and certainly missable. Trawling through the crap using the recent thread function was dull.

Yes the supposive 'banter' was missable. The new format is a massive improvement.

It has been a lot better IMO. A couple of threads nearly got ruined by the usual Man U rubbish like the Costa thread but over all the forum has improved.

A big noticeable improvement. Less activity, sure. But this is an Oxford United forum after all. Plenty of general football forums out there Bald if you miss the baiting, willy-waving 'bantz'!

You don't need to tell me. I'm on a few Man U forums. I certainly wouldn't call them 'willy waving' I guess it's because it's a big club that their fans are more accustomed to sensible debate rather than being a load of wannabes. Some of the threads on MUFC run for about 300 pages but seem to evolve more sensibly. I like it on both though - here and on there.

Out of interest baldy, what man u forums do you use?

Boring and PC. Is that baldy talk for discussing things that interest us without descending into name calling? I think this place is doing just fine. Get over yourself.

Quality over quantity Hold on, I'm just gauging opinion. If I wanted attention I'd have started a contentious thread with the words 'Manchester United' in it.

There are so many members though that you sort of get lost on them. What I enjoy on there though is that they can indulge in reasonable debate, often disagreeing, but there's a lot of validity in the counter arguments. On here is more like kids squabbling over which toy to play with. Like I say though, I enjoy both. Just get that bit more deflated on here because of the descending way threads go.

As the question has been raised, I am interested to find out what you post on them. Some people post differently on different forums, and I would like to see if you are one of those people. I'm on reddit, which is like a forum of forums if you don't know, and I post under a different guise. Reddit has many thousands of members, and I don't post anything like I do on here.

The reason I asked was because I am interested you express the same views on there as you do here. It has been proved before that if you do then you will be laughed at by the real man u fans. You again miss the point. You are on a Oxford forum trying to tell everyone how wonderful Man U are. People don't care about Man U on a league 2 forum. Man U, Man City and Chelsea are what is wrong with modern football and they have a negative effect on lower league football. To try and shove your views down peoples throat over and over again is not the way to go about having a reasoned debate.

This section is far better than it was. I know that because I read it more now rather than just avoiding it. There are plenty of places on the internet where you can troll about the premier league. Lets leave this place as it is now.

As with most things there's a fine line, as with 'Banter' or rubbing someone up the wrong way. Personally, I don't peruse the N&I section very much, not in comparison to say, the match section, or players- as that's where my main interest lies!! Looking at a wider perspective, eg this forum in general, I actually enjoy some verbal sparring from time to time, a 'Keyboard Warrior' if you like! But there's always one or three who push the boundaries of what is and what isn't acceptable, especially on a forum that's used by younger people. Tbh, I cannot see the problem with 'Baldy' -except his support of his other team! Otherwise, he's not aggressive, threatening or anywhere near as controversial as another I can think of- who, quite rightly has been banned from here, and elsewhere I should think, if his attitude and ways are consistent.

A big thank you to Boogaloo for breaking the deadlock and to Baldy for toeing the line. It's great now the aggression has gone. And I would add that most online dictionaries agree it is "toeing" rather than "towing" the line, so if you don't like it you can bugger off or see me at your convenience to "discuss" it. Tossers.

I pretty much the other replies - I think this forum has improved to be honest with you. The banter got a bit out of hand, and was quite frankly a bit embarrassing for what is actually an OUFC forum.
I guess Baldy is missing the attention, but if that's what you're after Baldy, I guess you could always pop on to Redcafe or Republik of Mankunia and start a few OUFC willy-waving threads. If you do though - send us a link, I'm sure it would make entertaining reading!

Do the threads go on for 300 pages because Man U fans are discussing Man U on a man I forum? I think this section has got so much better since all the silly games finished, you can have a debate about the pl if you wish and it stops when there isn't anything else to say not go on for pages repeating the same tit for tat

I always thought it was "tow the line". So you would tow your ideas/thoughts to bring them in line with someone elses, reluctantly. you learn something everyday (after i googled it to make sure you were right)

What exactly did Brenda spend all that cash on? They look dreadful!
Gerrard looks awful this season. Stirling is carrying them going forward. He's the only player who's performing.

If this forum is to be believed they are nailed on top four. Personally I cannot see it but there you go. You need a half decent defence that doesn't concede too many to win the PL - in my humble opinion of course.

Anyway, let's not deviate off topic.
