Total chaos at Maracana as dozens of Chile fans break through fences + charge into press centre. Old school stuff from the Chileans.
Meanwhile Jitteries' boss Del Bosque has made changes and what changes they are. Xavi and Gerard Pique, with 194 caps between them, have been dropped, with Javi Martinez and Pedro coming into the team.
Come on Chile. Give them hell!!!

Those of you confused by the sudden change of style may rest assured, I'm just copying from scotchegg's beloved Grauniad site. btw. Apart from the last sentence.

Well Spain have to be nailed on as under performers of the tournament.

This game means Spain can continue their run of not having lost a knockout game since 2006

So Spain turn up at a major tournament as a heavily-favoured hyper-talented side and then go out early with barely a whimper?
It's just like the good ol' days! As if the last six years never happened!

Yes.
Must say I feel a bit sorry for Del Bosque who seems like a decent bloke among the footballing fraternity and, unless I'm mistaken, was a major part of the last 6 years. But time rolls on and this must have seemed like a tonic to Raul.
Chile's pressing game is, to my mind reminiscent of the fine Argie side who were wonderful at pressing when they won it, or maybe the cup before. Suspect a lot depends on Valdivia, Valdez and the San Quentin dude but I wish them well. A team is greater than the sum of it's parts.

Yes I can hear the words now.
With the current Champions also going home early, this is not an easy tournament!

Wonder if this is one of those world cups where Spain lose 2 then absolutely demolish the third team they play? I recall a 6-1 against Bulgaria or the like.

So can it be said that England have stayed in the tournament longer than Spain? (Yes, I know that they're going to play another game, but they're officially out as of now. And England aren't) Who wouldn't have taken that before things got going?
