goal of the tournament has already been won. that was a world class goal.
it made RVP goal look like something you would see down the park.

Man utd were going to win the league after LVG and RVP single handedly beat spain, does this mean LVG might not be as good as a certain person tells us.
one of the favourites losing to the lowest ranked team
im not even sure RVP is playing

Do hate to be pedantic but Australia aren't playing Holland. They are playing the Netherlands, of which North and South Holland are provinces

Their fans don't seem to mind. The camera panned to some chanting 'Holland' so I think even they accept that as their name every now and again.
As good as the Dutch are going forward, there are gaps in their defence that a good outfit could exploit. They looked nowhere near as well rounded just now as they didn against Spain.

Typical Dutch - play one of the great World Cup games to completely dismantle the defending Champions.....and then mail it in against the plucky Aussies.
They're lucky that the Aussies made two defensive howlers and had a goalkeeping disaster, otherwise Group B would still be game on.
As it is - could still be a cracker between Chile and the Netherlands in the "Avoid Brazil" Cup Final. Not that Brazil look any great shakes....they'd both fancy their chances of knocking them off.

Australia were very fortunate ( which you fail to mention ) to get a penalty to go 2-1 up. That's never a penalty.
Says something about a good team that they play poorly yet still win.

Disagree actually - there was distance between the defender's arm and his body. You keep your arms by your side - it's no pen. You wave them around - even a little bit - and you're asking for it. But lucky was the wrong word on my part. It's not lucky that the Aussies made dumb errors. They're not very good is why they made dumb errors. But the Dutch won't get away with playing like that when they come up against someone decent in the knockout stages. They'll need to be back on their game again.

Fantastic game, totally enthralling. Australia clearly did their homework and we're exceptional. In the end, the quality of the Dutch shone through.

An absolutely outstanding goal. From the first time cross to the finish. Its a shame Cahill will miss the Spain game as he really leads the Aussies by example.
