Whilst some have apparently not been informed, most have been in advance I believe. Spontaneous, natural and organic creation disappeared along with the manor. Simple fact is, on a terrace singers group together in a small section, and at seated away games (unreserved). At the Kassam, our singers spread right along the top of the East Stand, making it near impossible to get any proper songs going and going loud enough on a normal match. Nobody sings at half time anyway, and very rarely before a home game, so don't undertstand your point here.
Buy the stadium? I'd rather get the hell out of here as soon as possible, the stadium is the main problem, 4th stand or no 4th stand, it will always be dire. Building a safe standing stand...right now that's not possible, so once again, can't see the point being made. In my opinion, singing area, fantastic solution to a problem that currently exists. Simply it's trying to make home games more like an away game, where all the singers group together. This helps the sound project out louder and quicker thus encouraging other areas to join in. Building new stands, terraces, low roofs are all impossible in our situation. Does the current situation work? Not at all. Have we tried a singing section in the middle of the stand? No, so why not give it a good go? Tended to do both back in the days at the Manor! ..... point is ...NO CHANCE off either happening of late when the powers that be IMPOSE shit, inapproriate and far TOO LOUD MUZAK on EVERYONE, which STIFLES any attempts to build any atmosphere ( at the quieter games) As Ive stated ...and I AM a natural cynic....now OUFC Admin have agreed to a (small) singing section, does that mean 'they' will stop any singing in other areas of the breeze block because its not in the right area? Can you answer that Oggie please as you seem to know all the answers on this? Personally, I dont trust the current OUFC admin one bit, especially and even more so after their attempts at dishing out of ABCs to INNOCENT OUFC supporters!!!!!! Oh come on Sarge you can't be serious on that one Whole point in this singing section is to provide an epicentre and encourage singing throughout the rest of the ground! It's in the article describing it!

Oggie. Any idea why the club haven't been in touch with all season ticket holders regarding this? Also why did they tell you that they had? Did we need a singing action against that lot down the A420? Vs Luton? Vs Rushden? If the product on the pitch is half decent you'll get a positive atmosphere. So, 3 or 4 matches picked out of the last 4 years!... what about the other 100 odd games where the atmosphere left quite a bit to be desired. Again, I can't see the problem with any of this as it's a singing section in an already singing section, it just has the added benefit of allowing people to group together to a degree.... and it will allow Essex to get rid of a bit of built up tension.

No tension here LJS. Would just be easier to make the entire stand "unreserved" as I may have mentioned in the past. If its 4,000 capacity with 1,000 ST holders then only sell 3,000 tickets to the plebs.....want the best seats (like mine) then get up early or fight for it !! lol

Whole stand unreserved would be the best scenario. First come, first served. Ticket numbers only used for 6500+ expected attendance games, where the atmosphere would be decent anyway.

The last time i politely asked a fellow fan if i could have my seat back they had a hissy fit and threatened me with murder, so looking forward to this one! Does the way you say "excuse me, can I have my seat back please" sound a little bit like "your wife and mother are both tied up in the boot of my car"?

That's the whole point of reserved season ticket seats, so you can do exactly that, and know your seat will (or should) be free.

Easy...... sit somewhere else. Like I said its not complex.I think there are (generally) enough seats to go around. So people arrive a bit earlier...chat to friends, congregate where they want too...and atmosphere builds from there.
If it was down to me the dangerous bits of plastic would be removed and a few crash barriers set in instead !

A few clubs put reserved stickers on season ticket seats and then the rest of the stand is unreserved. This would probably be the best option.
