keep up slappy ...or at least read the 7 page Priory thread... to save time, here you go ....the leaseholder, Firoka, is responsible for the decor/repair/ and condition etc, the landlord OCC have had a surveyors report with view to insisting the leaseholder honours the obligation of the lease ...with that in mind, Oxvox have issued, today, a survey regarding the possibility of re opening the Priory in some sort of capacity ........of course not everyone will welcome the Priory re opening , if indeed it does of course .... which gives me the chance to paraphrase the old adage ..... you can take a Slappy to the Priory, but you cant make a Slappy drink there i'd love to see it reopen, but would take a miracle to make it happen. Kassam won't just give it back, when he has his hotel plans next door. He won't want a popular pub taking money off his other enterprises. I've heard the hotel were under instructions if asked by workers where a pub was, they were directed anywhere but. Pipe dreams. Cloud cuckoo land. Id like the mighty yellows in the championship in the next 2 seasons, & as a competitive team at that level .... is THAT pipedreams & cloud cuckoo land too? Or hopeful aspirations... unlikely to be realised , nonetheless a possibility ...ditto The Priory re opening... if & when it does, I'll personally stand you a pint, to help wash down your defeatist humble pie :-D

But what profit would the priory make? It's decrepit inside, no passing traffic in the week, no marquee planning permission, and it's still got to be leased from Kassam. ..... you can take a Slappy to the Priory, but you cant make a Slappy drink there If honour of Barbara Cartland (or was it Dorothy Parker) that might read "You can take a Slappy to the Priory but you can't take a Prior to the Slappery". I'm not whether either of them drink. Don't give up on the Priory. With luck the fabric will be set up for restoration, and it's going to be tricky to change it's use (I hope).

OK, let's call the bar "The Paul Cannell Experience", I'm available for stand-up when me back's fu cked and I can't sit down. It will be registered as a Building at Risk, then who knows? I hope that Kassam will be forced to fix the fabric and that it will be cheaper to lease it than watch it rot. Better to live in hope than accept "The Paul Cannell Experience", shirley?

Wassup? I make a fairly obvious point that the priory is not financially viable.

Slappy, you're right that it wasn't viable while Tim Cottonsocks was working his balls off and Kasham just cranked up the rent.
It needn't always be like that is all I'm saying. It depends on the model, and whether the leasee is held to maintain the building.

If THE Bar can make £4k profit from a few hours on a Saturday (which must mean it makes even more profit than that as Kassam also takes a share), then surely the Priory (which I'm sure had more trade on a matchday) could make even more on those days. Actual profit of course would depend on rent charged (which seemed to be the real problem). It also has plenty of other days to TRY and make a bit of money, including possible Rugby days.

Surely it should be "Joey's"...... or "Ginger's" in honour of our new boss (or "Chippy's" in honour of the old one)
Not sure about Slappy's suggestion of "Cloud Cuckoo Land" though!

I wasn't at the awards dinner, but that must be across the stadium. If the capacity of the bar is 300 or so, to make 4K would need every one of them having ten drinks at a very generous £1.30 profit margin to OUFC. (made up numbers, but you get my drift).

I think the profit to Oxford United, is from the Supporters bar, Headington Bar, and the lounges.
The reason the revenue share agreement was delayed, was so the other bars could be included in the deal, not just the Supporters Bar.
Credit must go to those who negotiated the agreement.

The reason the revenue share agreement was delayed, was so the other bars could be included in the deal, not just the Supporters Bar. Credit must go to those who negotiated the agreement. if the TOTAL % to OUFC is £4000 per home match Id agree .... that said, the question as to why oufc supporters are (still) getting the mushroom treatment ( kept in the dark & fed shit) regarding the 'deal' is mystifying, especially as 'through the grapevine' Ive heard that LW have brokered a similar/identical deal with OGB ....'we' are encouraged to use a bar with minimal choice of drink, facilities are sparse, prices are high, punters arnt treated well, etc purely because oufc benefit from a split of the profit .... as £4k is the overall split for the 3 aforementioned bars, average split from each bar would be £1.33 k .... which IS reasonable Id say, so can those who feel they are more equal than other other supporters ( to misquote Orwell), drop their elite stance and let everyone know what the deal is? thanks Name for the bar ... The Tank ...in honour of Big Ron Atkinson, our skipper from southern league to old divison 2 , and arguably the best manager we never had
