Home 95/96www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6oep_3AwPA Date: 12/08/95 Venue: Manor Ground Attendance: 5563 Result: Won 1-0 Having fallen away from the promotion picture at the end of the previous season, there was greater expectation on the club to perform and win promotion back to the second tier. The season started at home to newly-promoted Chesterfield, but it started sluggishly and despite being clearly the superior team, we struggled to make many clear chances, being restricted mostly to shots from distance. The winner was not to come until the dying moments of the game, when Chrissy Allen broke through the Chesterfield defence and slotted in at the London Road end to start the season with a win.
