Think they just pick them from a hat. Cant imagine sky has much interest in showing L2, more of a contractural obligation. Would be good if they could show one of our further away trips that our left, Bury on april 2nd?

As I've just booked advance train tickets for Port Vale and Bury, it would be just my luck that they decide to televise one of them on a Friday night. I think Sky have done a Torquay game from L2 and that's it so far this season. They seem to be prefer the Championship and L1, but Port Vale - Bradford is on tv in February.

I wonder if the Gigg Lane "pitch" will get through another ninety minutes ?
It's a pudding.

Sky have problems realising that there IS football outside the premiership. Sky react to the population. If there is interest they will show these programmes. IF the viewing figures are there, they will show them. Scottish football creates the same problem....nobody except a small band of fanatics, and the fans of the two teams, will actually watch these games unless its Celtic or Rangers. So more accurately, the population is not interested in lower league football, UNLESS its their own team. Andy Gray and Richard Keys would not be involved in selecting matches.

Disagree on that point.... when Setanta were broadcasting CONference games, I was amazed by the amount of peeps all over the country ( me work takes me here there n everywhere)who not only watched CONference footy and were aware of what was going on in the 5th tier ...in the main I found most of 'em had kinda adopted, or had an affinity of sorts with, the mighty yellows as their lower league team directly due to what they had seen on tv - some even went witnessed their first yellows match in person at the playoff final at Wembley!!- the power of tv coverage, and lack of, shouldnt be underestimated

I suppose it's how you sell it. Who remembers the ITV digital fiasco? Apparantly the viewing figures for some matches in league 2 were in the 100's

The Conference football often pulled in more than the Scottish Premiership games (non Old Firm) and this was reflective, not of its popularity, but that the figures were so small for both broadcasts that it fluctuated rabidly. If you're trying to get viewing figures, then other sports are more likely to achieve higher figures than lower league football, primarily because the market is already saturated with a higher quality product. Look at how many companies bid for the conference football when it became available after Setanta.....
