.......admitting that he made a mistake in taking off Beano yesterday. Refreshing.

Yes it was an honest admission from CW.
It was a strange call from the gaffer as Wycombe centre half David Winfield (possibly the slowest central defender seen this season even allowing for Ben Futcher) looked to be breathing out of his @rse after being terrorised by James Constable all afternoon.
CW made the right call in bringing in Potter but the decision to sub Beano was bizarre and unnecessary.

personally i'd have loved CW to go for it and brought Doble and craddock on and taken off Mclean and another out of midfield and shown the big crowd we go for matches at home, given them something to look at and hopefully brought them back again

That appears to be CW's achilles heel. He prefers to stick rather than twist.
We had to win that game yesterday - we had nothing to lose but the bench send messages out to sit on the lead and take the sting out of the game. That's fatal for us as we simply can't defend at home. We were playing good football up until half time, we carried it for ten minutes and deservedly got to 2-0 but the lack of ambition was there for all to see. It's the lack of belief and fear sets in.
We should have carried on playing and passing. That's our strength. CW goes on about the mental side of the game but maybe the management team are just as culpable as they reflect this morning on what "might have been"
In the end we killed ourselves.

At the end of the day we aren't equipped to hang onto a lead even if we were mentally able to do so. The midfield is way too lightweight to protect the defence and the defence is dodgy as f#ck.
Why beano went off on sat i have no idea though it is good to hear wilder admit to a mistake. But why when he did go off heslop, who only managed about five passes to a player in an oxford shirt all day and was on a booking, was not taken off I have no idea.

We finished the stronger side in the last 10 minutes and were taking the game to Wycombe quite convincingly. Can't fully agree that we gifted Wycombe a point. They effectively bossed the first 30 minutes of the second half and were handy up front once the useless Beavon was replaced . Both their finishes were high class. There has been one other slower centre back than Dave Winfield on show this season. That was the totally inept 'Big Dave' Artell of Crewe.

We have no right to expect teams to lie down and lose. Wycombe are not in second place for no reason

Yes well done.
Having started Potter (rightly IMO), Wilder removed his usual option. Of those on the bench, anything but Craddock would have been speculative.
Admit, learn, and move on.
