On Sunday evening, Oxford City Stars host Invicta Mustangs at the Oxford Ice Rink. Its Oxfordshire United night, in recognition of the partnership between the Yellow Army and Oxford City Stars, as well as their excellent relationship with Oxford United FC.
The Stars are a great side, winning the league last season, and currently on a big winning streak.
Over the summer, a number of initiatives were discussed to improve the match day experience and atmosphere at Oxford United. One of the goals the Yellow Army had, was to look at ways to work with other local sports teams, to build relationships around Oxfordshire, and to see what we could learn. I met the committee of Oxford City Stars, and it was clear that they had the same passion as we do at Oxford United, for creating a great atmosphere, and helping to make the experience of coming to watch their team a better one. The meeting showed we had a lot in common, and it was an easy decision to work with people so passionate and willing to work with us.
As part of the new partnership, the Yellow Army has sponsored a stars player, Joe Oliver, who is an Oxford United fan, and The Stars have provided us with an Oxfordshire United flag, which we will proudly display at our home matches. The flag has the logos of both clubs, and it looks great.
This Sunday is a night for Oxford United fans to come along to the Oxford Ice Rink, to celebrate this partnership. If you haven't been to watch Ice Hockey before, its a really good night. Its action packed, and is for all the family. Until last season, I hadn't watched any Ice Hockey games, and didn't think i ever would. But after the first game watching the Stars, i was really surprised just how much i enjoyed it. Many others have said the same
So if you have never been to an Ice Hockey game before, then Sunday night can be your first time. There will be plenty of Oxford United fans there, as well as Olly and Olivia Ox. And for those who have been before, it would be great to see you there.
It starts at 6.15pm, and Oxford United fans receive 50% discount on entry if you show your OUFC season ticket, or match ticket. So its just £3 for adults.
With a mascot race and representatives from Oxford United there on the night, it promises to be a great night for Oxford united fans, and the Oxford City Stars, and we hope to see you all there.
