no, not into the long-term effects of brian talbot's management on our psychological well-being... on how our passion for our club affects our memory and perception, apparently. oxford university's psychology department have asked for help in finding some oxford supporters willing to take part in some experiments looking at this; there's a small payment for anyone taking part. further information and details of how to put yourself forward here... oxvox.org.uk/news.aspx?id=506

It will probably show we are all barking mad. As if we didn't know that already!

Can I nominate Eric Read for this psychological experiment?
Judging by his comments on attendances I reckon his memory and perception need assessing by a specialist.

His long term memory seems Ok - its the short term that may need treatment....he doesn't seem to be able to fully grasp that: 1. We won on Saturday 2. We are top of the league I worry about him.

I think this person has been doing this study for a while, last season she was in the hotel with a laptop asking fans to take part. There was a oufc swindon birmingham and man city badges with shapes round and you had to press the button when you see a certain badge with a shape and colour very easy then she emailed asking me and my mate to go to the hispital to do some tests on how the brain work but never went lol.

The mind boggles! Who knows what they'd have found

Does anyone else on here remember helping Dr Pete Marsh with his studies back in the 70s? I remember looking at pictures, showing a drawing of a fictional fan in different outfits and being asked where I felt they would stand on the London Road terrace. It may sound very odd to the younger element on here, but even something as simple as wearing a silk United scarf on your wrist, your belt loop or around your neck, made a big difference to where many people would place the fictional supporter. It's amusing that in those days you wore your colours with pride to be 'one of the lads', yet these days you would be cast out as one of those 'shirters'.

Yes, I remember going to his house on Divinity Road. With him and Doc Morris we were often at the forefront of those sort of studies.

I got talking to Desmond Morris at one of Pete's parties in Divinity Road. A fascinating conversation about overhead clapping, United and Chuck Berry, but as the conversation went on I felt that I was being analysed. Out of interest Eric, where did you wear your silk scarf? Neck, wrist, belt loop, or did you do a TisWaz Rich Tarren and wear them on both wrists, both sides on the belt loops and around your neck. Always felt that guy was OTT :-)

Did the first part of the experiment today. Booked in for the brain scan etc next week.
Easy £30 beer tokens for about 3 hours of my time. Lady doing it said she'd not had as many volunteers as expected.
If you have got some time I think she'd appreciate the volunteers.

It's when you admit to going to Barrow on a friday night that the psychosis becomes really apparent... Or on a Tuesday in December to get beat 3-1 A night forever etched into my deepest subconscious. The endless journey back in an unheated and dark minibus was my worst Oxford united experience.

Was that the night it p*ssed down and we were in the open?
It was bad, but in my mind not as as bad as the 5-0 (iirc) under Jim Smith at Rushden.

Once for the infamous 0-3 thrashing on the opening Friday evening of the season, after which the locals decided it was still 1980, then the following season for a 1-1 draw. The place itself is undeniably a dump, but what great countryside on its doorstep! Remember the midweek 0-5 at Rushden very well. We were absolute garbage, but gallows humour abounded and I actually quite enjoyed it!

There is a chap near me who needs a good psychologist. I might leave a request on his seat tomorrow. He might skew the results though.

Having taken part in this experiment I would recommend anyone to take part. It's easy money for 2/3 hours of your time and as someone else mentioned Zahra is struggling to find enough people to complete her study.

She needs about 10 more so I would suggest anyone with a few hours gives her a hand. She's happy to work in the evening too which is good
