Clearly there needs to be an improvement on the team's home form, CW and his Coaching staff are no doubt working on this- But how can 'we' help with the atmosphere? All the welcome attempts by fans groups and individuals doesn't seem to have worked because, let's be honest, most of the time during our home matches it's been very flat. This despite all the hard work trying to make the support visually impressive it hasn't impacted on the noise levels imho, yes, the results and form at home are a factor, but this is definitely not all of the problem. I wish someone 'dared' to take a drum- if nothing else, it would almost certainly ignite the anti-drum brigade which in turn would lift the volume of the crowd!! Not just thinking that a drum is the answer- anything that arouses the crowd from its slumber has got to be welcome. All the flags, balloons and bunting etc etc looks brilliant- but doesn't rock!!! And no, I don't own a drum let alone play one Might have a wooden rattle lying about somewhere though.. All genuine ideas welcome. ?

But there's drummers and then there's Drummers, I always thought the aldershot one was decent , a sort of Keith moon , we'd probably end up with a ringo star type and he isn't even the best drummer in his family !

Really its only going to be decent performances that will provide a sustained improvement in atmosphere. The supporters at present can start off the match in decent voice, but after 15-20 minutes of not a lot happening on the pitch then the singing will die down. Maybe that's not how it should be, but it's the reality. Its a 2 way thing and at the moment , at home, there's nothing really coming back from the play to generate enthusiasm. Adding a drummer will just add a drummer, and not much else.

Think of all the incredbile atmosphere's at the Manor and even some big games at the Kassam, never needed a drummer then...

Must be an answer, unless we just wait until we reach Championship level, the soulless heap is 'ours' and we have a real team to be proud of? The away fans chanting 'Where were you when you were S**t'??

Agree with above posts...drums are shite and embarrassing! Wonder if the closure of the Priory has had a detrimental effect? Decent ales, cider and banter..then virtually straight through the turnstiles!

Can't stand drums, they're just for clubs who can't create an atmosphere to begin with. We've never been one of those clubs and hopefully never will be!
One idea is, if you choose to stand/sit in the East Stand, join in with every song! You certainly don't sit there for the view!

Any club that has a drummer instantly sacrifices any claims of having truly passionate fans, in my book.

I still like the idea of treating a home game like an away one. Everyone meet in town early doors. Get on it in one or two large pubs then descend on the ground as a large group on a couple of buses or a load of cabs. Best home atmospheres we have are when there is a decent crowd in town. Ok that's also down to the away team too.

One thing that needs to be addressed is the speed we sing songs. That's one thing that kills the atmosphere dead, almost as if we're having a race and the song just dies off. It sounds rubbish and just means we get through our already very limited song book in record speed.

And we do have 'truly passionate' fans, don't we?!
Ok, so nobody wants a drum, equally nobody has an answer to the 'problem'!!

I've been lucky enough to have been to several European grounds over the years and quite often the noisy fans have a conductor who spends the whole game facing the fans and seems to control which songs are sung and generally pumps up the atmosphere.

Seen that on the telly, blokes with mega-phones, and since they face the crowd I assumed they were employed to do so- or more interested in their own terrace status than watching the match!

I watch Torino once or twice a season - and yes the said guys are known as capi ultras. An average game in Trieste I can understand, but even in a possible relegation at the San Siro, they spend literally the whole game getting the rest of the fans singing. Usually half a dozen or more to be fair who orchestrate it...and that is the key word...good atmosphere maybe but far too orchestrated and no allowance whatsoever for individuals to get a chant going!

Oh well thats it then, looks like Wilder and the players will just have to create some excitement for the fans and give them something to shout about. What a novel idea....

Our fans seem anti anything 'ultra' like. And not enough join in with any new songs. Which is shame, as something really needs to change.
