Things i know about my club today i didn't know this time yesterday.
1) The Milk Cup on display in the trophy cabinet is in fact a replica. Why? Because the original (which we were allowed to keep as the last winners anyway) was so badly damaged in the street outside a London hotel the night after winning it by a certain naked centreback with a Sly nickname! Only the base of the trophy & the ribbons are original.
2) Remember the club had negotiated a split of revenues of all catering sold in the stadium? Well it didn't happen & the club just gave up trying to deal with the stadium owners & catering company in the end. OUFC get nothing from any catering sold within the stadium.
3) You know that 'magnificent' Blue Square Trophy held aloft by Beano & Murray at Wembley in May? Well the sponsors were so cheap they told Oxford they had to pay for their own plate + the engraving on it!

Just one of the reasons i'm so glad we're a football league club, and i hope we never have anything to do with that tinpot organisation ever again.

Probably best to make sure the above is correct before organising a boycott. If so, definitely boycott.

I agree - all I will say is that i was lucky enough to have access to all areas at the club last night. This information came directly from a very senior member of staff at the club after i'd enquired as to whether the catering money was proving profitable. I'll admit i was very surprised by his response but he was more than happy to tell me.

Its the Prawn Sandwich Brigade that need to do the boycott as that will have the most immediate impact on the Stadco as the other catering is franchised out and will only affect the stadco when renewing contracts. Will they be up for it?

that would have to be a boycott then

Why don't the club set up their own catering outside the ground, i know this will be no use for half time but it must be worth looking at! There really should be a right "in your face" boycott of the current offering

The club gets absolutely NOTHING from catering or the bars. It only gets a split of the perimeter boardings and a referal fee if any business is sent the way of the conference centre.

At least I feel better about never buying any of the shite in the stadium now.

Most fans don't know about any of this, would leaflets explaining this be any use? We as a support look to those running our club but maybe we should be more militant and MAKE the crook who owns the ground more willing to do a deal to sell

Your best off going to the Priory for a drink before and after

I am not sure all the grief that it may cause the club if it was an official boycott would be worth it or beneficial but we can all decide for ourselves. I have rarely bought any food at the stadium and prefer to eat elsewhere and give my cash to the 50/50 sellers so at least the club will benefit from some of it.

Not surprised about the Food and Drink. It still amazes me why people buy it so often.

Never buy anything from within the stadium, rather go hungry/thirsty.

I thought the original Milk Cup was kept by Liverpool as they had won it 3 times? Ours was always a replica wasnt it?

Don't buy anything anyway, it's shit and very expensive. Never have since very early on when I realised the club got nothing out of the abortionately high prices charged.

I have been boycotting the erm food and drink at the OGB's stadium for longer than i can remember. I think a visual reminder that all proceeds from the vastly over priced poor quality offerings go to the **** and none to OUFC would help. Anyone offer to wear a sandwhich(!) board on match days?! )

I was in a box on Tuesday night. The club is missing out on a lot of money if they dont get a share. There were 9 of us in the box, and we spent £150 on beer. The potential if we own the stadium is huge

thats why I choose to go to the Priory pre & post match.... its the unofficial supprters club, especially with all the support etc Tim and co give to OUFC and relalted fundraising too ( Tess Sullivan, 12 th man etc).
there's a much better choice of lagers, bitters, real ales and ciders in the Priory than overpriced warm carlesberg/bitter on offer in the ground too!

3) You know that 'magnificent' Blue Square Trophy held aloft by Beano & Murray at Wembley in May? Well the sponsors were so cheap they told Oxford they had to pay for their own plate + the engraving on it! I asked Alan Alger (Blue Square Premier ambassador or whatever) on the Conferenceforum about this and he said it's all rubbish. Then again, who would trust a bookie?
