Where will we end up realistically?

I think we will get top 3. Been saying all along we should aim for this and I'm being proved right. There were too many doubting thomases amongst our fanbase saying we need to consolidate. I was never one of them

I've gone for play-off promotion because I really think we can do it and still think we could scrape into the auto positions yet especially if we play like we have v Bradford and Shrewsbury.
Just getting into the play-offs will be a great effort and will add some much needed additional revenue to help us push on next season wherever we end up.

Well we just beat a team who are meant to be "Promotion Chasers" according to SSN, so who knows?

Lets all just keep supporting the team, and not worry about where we end up just now. It was only a few weeks back that we were near the lower end of the league and people were calling for CW's head One game at a time...

Comfortably avoid relegation and I will be happy. Play offs would be a very good achievement. Plus I think if we did make that we are the sort of tram who could raise their game to win them.
However 10th is I think where we will finish. The next 5 games will give us a good idea where we stand as we are to play some good teams.

If you aim high, you miss. A few weeks ago we were in trouble. How quickly things can change.

I don't think we're good enough for automatic promotion, we've slipped up against too many teams and could do it again. I think we can with luck make the playoffs, but to win thru is a massive ask.
Whatever happens, it's been a bloody good ride so far.

Saturday is a test.
Winning back to back league games at home has proved difficult for many teams but we are playing with belief and confidence and Cheltenham's form is not great.
They seem to blow hot and cold. Need to carefully watch Wes Thomas and Geoff Goulding but we look to have plenty of goals in us now. I hope we get 7,000 home fans at least.
The players deserve top backing.

Despite the excellent win last night the defence still worried the hell out of me on corners and free kicks. For this reason alone I don't think we will make it.
If the defence suddenly manages to tighten up in those areas THEN I think we will do it, probably in the automatic places. ;D

Whilst I undersand why many are not too confident about promotion we have to treat this as a 20 game season where we have a 5 point deduction over our closest rival (ie if Rotherham win their game in hand).
The average needed to achieve automatic promotion over the last 10 years has been 79 points. Rotherham have the third highest average points this season so far and they are on track for 75 points!
If we aim for 76 points then we need to average 1.9 points per game over the rest of the season and we have averaged 2.25 per game over the last eight games. 12 Wins - 2 Draws - 6 Losses should be enough to have a chance at the auto places.
The play off target could be as low as 68 points but 70 has been the average so we could lose a couple of the games we need to win above and still make it.
It will not be easy but the mountain we need to climb may not be as high as it may seem from where we stand today. Our defense may be a bit fragile but over the last 8 games we have scored more than anyone and are top of the form table so the overall team must be doing something right. Some of our main rivals have been faltering badly with Port Vale and Shewsbury showing relegation form and Bury not much better. Chesterfield, Wycombe and Crewe have held up well recently but we have slightly outpaced all of them and the rest are grinding out some reasonable results but nothing outstanding.
Wilder has brought in two great players in McLean and MacLaren, Beano has hit the form that he was struggling to achieve earlier in the season and we have seen some superb performances in recent games.
Lets not worry too much about promotion, trust the management team, then sit back and enjoy the ride!

I think the playoff are definately achievable, although if we narrowly fail, I for one will not regard whis season as a failure by any stretch of the imagination. I predicted a mid-table finish at the start of the season, and anything above that is a job well done as far as I'm concerned. As for where we will finish, I think it will be just outside the playoffs. We're on a good streak at the moment, but I don't think it will last, although would love to be proved wrong.

Our form over the last five games and the results over the last nine have been wonderful, and if we can keep it up then a playoff place is a certainty.
My start of the season prediction was 10th-12th. The addition of Maclean and Mclaren has helped greatly, but I still think we'll fall just short unless we tighten up defensively.
But there is certainly more than a glimmer of hope. We are only three points off those in the automatic promotion places!
