Changes to Trust Committee
Dear Trust Member,
When I wrote to you on 1 February 2011 about the Trust’s forthcoming AGM I mentioned that an election would be required if four or more nominations were received from members wishing to serve on the Trust committee.
Now that the closing date has passed I can inform you that just two completed nomination forms have been received from Matt Cavill and Terry Winter. As we had declared three vacancies on the committee, Matt and Terry will be deemed elected subject to the members’ ratification at the AGM.
The AGM will, therefore, give you the opportunity to meet Matt and Terry, both of whom have put their names forward for the first time and are keen to become involved in the running of the Trust.
This is now a turning point for the Trust and its committee. Tim Rosser and I are standing down after 6 and 9 years respectively. The time has come for new blood to come to the fore to take the Trust forward and the committee is aware of other members who can serve, perhaps with a nudge here and there or some gentle persuasion.
Furthermore, Trevor Lambert has announced that he wishes to resign both the Chair and the committee. Trevor has been a stalwart since the Trust’s inception, devoting much of his spare time to the task without a word of complaint. I know he has been looking to stand down as Chair for a while and he believes the timing is now right.
Likewise, Neil Carter will be handing over the role of Treasurer after the AGM and leaving the committee prior to the 2012 AGM. Neil has served the same length of time as Trevor, all as Treasurer, and, again, like Trevor, he has decided that other aspects of his life must come first.
The AGM though is not just about the election of committee members. It is an opportunity for you to receive the Chairman’s Performance Report and the Treasurer’s Report and Accounts, and, as always, to advise on the direction you wish the Trust to take.
As a reminder, the date is Saturday 19 March in The Landmark Suite with a kick-off time of 1.00pm and I hope to see you there. Tea/coffee will be provided.
