Sacked by Bristol Rovers, Martin Foyle has also left the club. Seems hasty. Do some chairman seriously believe that a managers walks in holding a magic wand ? If I was Rovers the name at the top of the list would be a certain Mr S Evans.

They clearly brought him in hoping that he would save them, so to me this is a resignation to relegation. He will no doubt have been on a contract that was either short or had a fairly hassle-free get out clause from the club's perspective, so putting a current player in charge is fairly shrewd as it freezes costs at the very least, as well as giving fans something to desperately get behind come hell or high water.
Behind the scenes they'll be planning for life in League Two and this will now give them plenty of time to make plans, from the next manager to budgets and finance across the club. Sad to see but, really, this is about business and nothing but from their point of view.

Well I agree it looks like there admitting to relegation, but also quite surprised they got rid of Foyle thought they would of put him in charge until the end of the season.

Can only operate with a big budget or at a little club where he can fiddle the books. His Boston sides played some of the ugliest football ever and they deservedly got relegated from the Football League. If I was a Gashead and saw Steve Evans take over the reins, I would be mighty p*ssed off.

I think its pretty disgraceful to sack him after only giving him a couple of months to change things. Its quite easy to see that its the players that aren't good enough for league 1
I hope the LMA stand up for him and complain about the way rovers treated him.

There may be more behind it, he may have lost the changing room. 9 defeats in 13 is poor by anyone's standards

Have put the captain in charge and recalled a player out on loan, strange to put someone in charge for the rest of the season with zero experience, they do seem to have given up.

Exactly my thoughts, given up on the season If they had to sack Penny though it should have been last week then they could have got Paul 'Red adair'Hart instead of the Scum getting him and possibly getting them out of the shit
