Not good news. He likes playing for a contract and on his day is bloody brilliant.

He didn't put much effort into playing for an OUFC contract towards the end of last season.

Was at least partially paid by Plymouth during his time here?
And knew that he'd end up with some or all of the money earned eventually? Players seem to be the first ones sorted out once the dust settles in those kind of scenarios, its the club admin etc who lose out the most.

this man saved us last season, if it wasnt for his magic last season at chesterfield away we may have been staring relegation in the face.

this man saved us last season, if it wasnt for his magic last season at chesterfield away we may have been staring relegation in the face. Yes he played well that night, as did many others. But that one result and his 5/6 good games in 6months didn't move us to the top half from 'staring relegation in the face!' Steve McLean has the ability, but doesn't want to work hard enough.

We'd lost god knows how many games on the trot before he turned up. The man was a genius albeit a lazy one, it was a great piece of management to bring him in.

Or we'd have won the next game. What a ridiculous thing to speculate on. "Staring relegation in the face"! Utter bollocks.

I was going to reply earlier but thought I was in danger of being whoooshed.

The most important part of a football match isn't the result. I'll like Maclean until another OUFC player does something worthy of the Soccer AM showboat.

ahaha, its all about opinions, but in my opinion if he wasnt brought in we wouldnt have been challenging for a playoff spot last year. No need to shoot someone down for having an oposite opinion to you, blimey!

If we had lost to Chesterfield we would have been 23rd in the league that night. Maclean was undoubtedly brilliant that night, and in the next few games. Sure he was pants by the time he left, but that first month he was the best player on the pitch in every game. Short memories we have...

Burgess and Maclean.....did they come from Dynamo Moscow? ....I know that they were both at Cambridge.....neither regarded as loyal and are prone to switching sides.

No you're right, you do have a valid point. We would indeed have been staring relegation in the face... ...for at least a week.

Philby and Blunt to sign tomorrow. Question is who the fifth signing is going to be. There's a rumour doing the rounds it'll be Cairncross but he denies it.
