Heard that we were paying him £2,000 a week and were prepared to do so until the end of the season, but Swindon offered him £6,000 a week. Obviously Southampton want to pay as little of his wages as possible and therefore it makes sense to send him to the club that pays more... sorry i like to think of Swindon paying their players ridiulous wages as much as every OUFC fan, but no club would simply treble your wages when they could clearly get their man for a lot less.

IMHO Holmes was the best of a poor bunch. As Dik Canestan said after being thumped by 10 at the Ka$$tad ..."My team cannot handle the big games"

Wilder said we were paying 25% and the team that came in for him are offering almost all of the wages.

Kelvin Thomas has said that Swindon tripled our offer.

Considering they have been top a while their gates are only slightly better than ours, they can only have backers with deeper pockets than most....

Maybe their backers are treating them like an experiment. A bit like they were discussing on that Panorama or dispatches programme.
When the club reaches the level the backers have defined, they get rid and get their money back. It could be great fun for the supporters on the way up, but not so good on the way down......
