Just sat through the football league show - although i switched to sky sports news when that slap head was at pig hill i have to say. While watching, it was mentioned roughly a dozen times that various clubs had ticket initiatives/reductins today.
Bradford for instance had 17,000 in to see them play Hereford!
We seem to do very few such initiatives and it got me wondering why? Are we dependant on the 6000 paying full price every week, can we not afford to 'gamble' on getting the extra bums on seats to warrant a reduction once in a lue moon?
Anybody else share the view that it could be a good PR exercise and potentially quite prudent if a few of those new supporters decide to come more regularly at full price?
Just a thought.

How do you reward the ST holders? What we got, around 3500 of them? Must be fair to them.
I'd sooner see those fans get a 'loyalty bonus' Lets say for each season you've had a ST you get x% extra taken off the total for the next year. Then if you drop prices to coax ad hoc fans, the most loyal get rewarded too, before a ball is kicked.
Maybe the club could create a regular goer/customer card, like you get in the coffee houses for not just ad hoc fans?
Come to 10 games get game 11 free of charge? Mark the card at point of sale. Could help get those fans cup tickets etc after the ST holders have had theirs? Rather than have a regular miss out to a 'jump on the doing well bandwaggon once in a blue moon' spectator?
I'd rather the club give 1000 tickets free to reward local schools in the county who're teaching/coaching childrens football through the FA Charter scheme?
You made a good point NY, anyone from OUFC wanna chip in?

We have 4,250 ST holders. I agree we do not do enough at all. We used to do a couple of kid a quid games. Especially on a midweek in half term. What is the bloody point in playing in front of 6,000 empty seats every week!!
But, then we only sold 7,500? home tickets when were half price for Bridle bonanza and they was free for all millatary workers on Sat, and hardly any turned up.
Our support is dropping rapidly, cos home games are not enjoyable at all again.

The club may not get the revenue from the burgers, fizzy pop etc but they do get future Yellows, who may well pester their parents to take them to more games, buy replica shirt/kit, buy programme, go on holiday courses etc.

I started going as a 5 year old and starting taking my sone at 5 as well. He was fortunate to be the mascot at his 1st away game at Port Vale when Malcolm Shottom was manager. He done the warm up with the players and as he came off the pitch as the game started Shotts called him over and he watched the first 5 minutes sat on the bench with him 14 years and 100 grounds later we both still follow the mighty yellows home and away. That was the way of ensuring he was a fan for life and I got a pass out to attend loads more games than I would have done

Is there ways of getting these ideas to the club so they can be considered?

Giving out free tickets to kids teams and schools. The line they do to greet the players on the pitch. 12th Man flag bearer, On the pitch at half time. And Under 7's tickets are free in any stand of the ground.

I don't know why they don't do a buy 3 adult tickets, get the fourth free type deal. That's £42 in the club coffers instead of zero, and it's not like there aren't enough bits of blue plastic to go around. I know for sure that this would be taken up, and other than the derby games, I don't see why it's not in effect always. I also know that I would take more people up there who aren't from Oxford at all, but £10 for a day out and a few beers beforehand is much more persuasive than having £15 each. I guess it's all psychology really - feel you're getting a deal at £10, but paying £15 for 4th division football ain't worth it.

is there a membership scheme currently operational that has any sort of ticketing incentives? I know there was one linked to discounts off holidays etc but when I clicked the link towards the botom of the page on the official OUFC website I get: "Oops! Google Chrome could not find www.oufcmembership.co.uk" (same using I.Explorer so not a Chrome glitch) ?? www.oufc.co.uk/page/News/0,,10342~1894631,00.html

Don't think the membership scheme is running anymore and the domain is no longer registered (hence why it goes nowhere).
