So who picks which laws should the police enforce? So smashing up a pub and shoplifting should be looked into by the police anymore? Should they continue to look into murders, but only if the person killed wasn't a bit of a cock? I bet your one of those blokes who says "haven't you got any real criminals to catch" when they get pulled over for speeding.
Bloody hell, the football must be going well. Your really scraping the barrel for things to have a moan about if it's the police asking for more information on shoplifters is getting you going today.

To be fair, as someone who has had their car broken into and stereo stolen, it annoys me when the police deem this to be a serious enough crime to investigate, yet auto-theft is not worth bothering about. I can understand investigating murders, serious assault, rape etc, but nicking a couple of joints of ham from a large supermarket chain?

I've come around to thinking that Police view car crime and driving offences seriously because it's 'easy' policing. Cars are registered and can be traced, everything's on a computer so homing in on this area of policing gets the best results. Crimes like Burglary are difficult and costly so they can't be bothered. That's why you see loads of traffic police doing stop checks yet you rarely see bobbies on the beat or if you get robbed they don't give a stuff and there's a lack of resources
It's all about targets

Speeders are usually decent people who simply made a mistake. They are likely to pay the fine, turn up to court and generally be co-operative, whereas car thieves, car tax evaders are likely to no tpay their fine, not turn up to court. Motorists are just an easy target.

I'm not saying it's as bad as car thief or any other kind of thief, but what's the difference between speeding and not paying your car tax? Both just think they wont get caught. Perhaps if there weren't so many speeders about then there would be more police to assign to other roles

Maybe so, but if people aren't prepared to pay then they should take the bus. Untaxed drivers are usually uninsured too, because if they are too tight to fork out £150 for road tax, then they certainly won't buy insurance either.
