I have just seen Tommy's goal from Saturday. It was a terrific finish. He is really is a top class finisher, spinning and shooting in a split second. Class.

I watched it again today and it really was a quality finish. He made it look very easy.

Reminds of Martin Aldridge in the way he finishes..

He is class, we must surely have the strongest forward line in the league.

Used to have a fair bit of banter with a couple of guys who stood with me who weren't particularly keen on him...I would like to think that on current form I am most certainly winning that argument ;D

Great finish and it still isn't clear whether he was offside or not. (Not that it matters anyway!!)

What a change! When Craddock first arrived he was the bad boy who could never be as good as Beano (he who could do no wrong). It was clear from the goal he scored at Hereford (compared to the scuffed, two-attempts goal by Constable that day) that he is a class finisher and just needed time to settle into the team before he started scoring regularly. Now he has, and now he does. I hope a few of the Beano-is-the-greatest-ever admirers can now see what good finishing really is.

Those goals vs Bristol Rovers, at Wembley, at Morecambe, the quality strike against Barnet and that other team (can't remember who it was) recently, those were all excellent finishes too.

No, certainly not. Beano has scored some great, and important, goals for us. Including Wembley. But Craddock is a class above as a finisher. I wouldn't want to lose either from the team, though.

I can understand what you are saying to an extent, however you're putting down of Beano doesn't sit well with me at all. Beano fired us in to the football league, and for that alone I think he has the right to be the golden boy of Oxford United for a little while. I would also say that I'm not sure anybody has ever doubted that Craddock was a naturally more gifted finisher than Beano. What Beano does have is an incredible work rate and spirit. They are two very different players. Whilst you were right, like many others, about Craddock being a very good player, you're also just as bad as the fans you are criticising. Yes you are praising one player on the team, but at the expense of another, and a bit of an oxford legend at that. True fans should support all the players on the pitch.

Yes, fair point, both. I just got irritated, though, a while back when Craddock was getting stick from fans who seemed to forget he had been dumped into left midfield. Now he's where he belongs.

Just seen Craddock's goal again, quality finish. Even though it didn't matter in the end, i agree with LongLiveClarkey, i think it was offside. And as for watching the defending again for their 2 goals, well....

I heard a choice quote from someone after he'd scored 5 goals in 9 games:
"What was Wilder thinking when he signed this numpty?"
That was the highlight of some of the more comical Craddock bashing.

There was an article in Saturdays Sun where Adam Johnson was talking about ex-Boro team mate and best pal Dale Roberts.
There was a pic of the Middlesbrough youth team of 2004 featuring the likes of Johnson, David Wheater and our own Tom Craddock.

I slowed it down, paused it, and he was definitly onside. But at the time, and even watching the youtube clip in real time, i thought it was offside. So fair play to the linesman

Still think it was offside Definitely not. There is another thread with a link to a video of the goal from OUFC fans on the side of the pitch and directly in line with the action. His run and the pass to him were perfectly timed.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdfmDmrEEYk Craddock's goal wasn't offside ...stop the vid at 2 mins 33 secs as the ball leaves the Oxford player's (who?) boot in the centre (that comes to Craddock)..deffo onside..great poacher's goal..pity it didnt get us a point! ..think that's one we let slip away.

His run and the pass to him were perfectly timed. Generous! Think it was Hall who made a bit of a hash of the shot. Still, Craddock was right place, right time again. Got a bit of the Michael Owen about him, he won't contribute that much all over the pitch, but deadly within 25 yards of goal. Even 30-35 yards out, when he gets the ball he's always looking to get toward goal to get a shot off. Good to see.

So fair play to the linesman I've not seen that clip, John. In real time i thought he was off, but then from behind the goal isn't the best vantage point. Someone near me said he was off, but he thought it was a close decision. I'll go watch the clip now. EDIT: Just seen the clip, paused it when the ball was played, and he was level. Good call.

From very early on it was clear Craddock was a deadly finisher but his recent fun of goal scoring form seems to have given him a boost and he is now offering much more in terms of his general player. He looks like being a very good player for us and someone to rival Bean in the goal charts
