Brazilian legend Ronaldo has anounced his retirement. Certainly the best striker I have ever seen play the game. If it wasn't for his injury problems, he would have eclipsed Pele's goal-scoring record. news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/9396646.stm

Was he the one who nearly died before the WC final but played anyway?? It was him or Robby Carlos I don't think we'll ever know what happened that day. Even though he had some good years at Real, I wonder just how good he would have been if he hadn't wrecked his knee at Inter in both 1999 and 2000.

He played the whole game. I can understand the confusion. It was more a case of he didn't turn up, rather than didn't start. Something wasn't right with him on that day as he played awfully, which was a great shame.

One of the best strikers ever.
And in 2002 the worst haircut ever.
