I believe i must be the only person in the country who thinks Andy Gray is a decent pundit! shame on me!
As for the female assistant - she was clueless. Yes she got the Liverpool goal decision right but a few minutes later she flagged for offside (no doubt feeling the pressure from the stands behind her) when Torres was at least 3 yards onside!! She looked like a rabbit in a cars headlights.........

She obviously must know the rules or she wouldn't have been allowed to qualify.

My official stance would be to say she's just a bad assistant but i would be thinking its because she was female when stating it! Am i sexist? yes i guess i'm guilty of that one when it comes to football. I'll be honest by saying i value a female's opinion on football less than that of a male (Moobs being the exception). I also believe women's football is thriving in this country and female officials should officiate in women's football only....

It's certainly annoying when you're watching a match in a mixed group and a woman who's clearly not remotely interested in football talks abstractly about "tactics". Don't do it! I admit I have NO interest in home furnishings. PS See the Baldy thread in miscellaneous. Could be on for a beer tonight if my date doesn't show.

Grampsioli, fair play to you for being honest. I just wondered if you could try and quantify your reasonings for valuing a man's opinion more than a woman's as I find it fascinating. I know a lot of blokes who quite clearly no nothing about the game despite watching it regularly and their opinion means nothing to me and I know women who watch United every week home and away a know a lot about the game. I know who's opinion I'm gonna take with a grain of salt and who I'm more likely to believe if I didn't attend a match. Is there something especially complicated about football that you think women can't understand? I honestly can't understand your reasoning and would love to know. P.S. I think the Daily Mash summed it up pretty well: www.thedailymash.co.uk/sport/sport-headlines/offside-rule-incredibly-straightforward-201101243461/

They were still "working" and still representing there employers. It might have been "banter" or just an off the cuff comment, the point is that they were still at work.
I might be wrong but i don't think she made a complaint is was everyone else jumping on the bandwagon. The next game she involved in will now be a lot worse for her. She's done well to keep out of the limelight and ignore it.
I dont like Gray, like most people think he a bit of a tw*t but i cant see Sky getting rid of 2 big names in the sports commentary world, i hope im wrong though

If i am honest I never take womens views about football very seriously, havent met one who I would say is very knowlegable about the game. Every girl I have been out with has had no interest in the sport and I think I prefer it that way, find it a bit annoying when they pretend to have an interest. I also dont rate womens football very highly, not convinced that the Englands women's team could beat a decent sunday league team. If people were honest on here I think that a lot would admit that their views are not that far from mine. Outside of football I believe that women should have the same rights as men and that they should earn the same money for the same job etc, so maybe its sport that brings it out in me.

The point about Gray and Keys is that they are working for a public company ( in the fact that we ,the public, pay subscriptions) and they are the public face of that public company as and such need to be fully aware of their responsibilities. They need to be whiter than white. Ok, some may say they were unlucky to get caught saying what they did, but there is always an off chance that off-air comments will be heard by someone. Sexist comments are frowned upon in the workplace regardless where you work, but working on TV has added responsibilities. Whether or not its a sacking offence is down to Sky's own disciplinary code.

Surely that says more about the women you've dated? I've got some friends (male) who know nothing about sport of any kind, I don't see why that's any different for ladies who don't like football, of course I don't care what they think. That said some of my female friends who do like football are just as knowledgeable (or in some cases unknowledgeable in my opinion) as the rest of my mates. As for the England Ladies team, they actually do play behind closed doors games against conference and league two teams so I think you've miss judged the quality in the squad (bearing in mind most of them aren't professional).

I think the opposite sex on the whole just don't understand why football stirs so much passion and is often tribal in nature. Consequently i don't think they are as passionate about the game and, therefore, i value their opinion less as a result. I accept my viewpoint is flawed and hard to really justify but its the way i feel & i don't think i'm gonna change any time soon! As for the female lino - she's never gonna keep up with play in that denim skirt. www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1350265/Andy-Gray-Richard-Keys-sexism-storm-Sian-Massey-party-girl.html

Whenever I watch womens football (rarely I admit) the standard seems low and thats all I can judge it on. The same goes for the women I meet and have a coversation with about football, cant recall ever having thought she knows a lot about the game. Even the women I meet who go to games seem to enjoy it more as a day out than be particularily keen on the sport. Doesnt actually bother me as its only a game and women dont have to like it to have a relationship with me. Maybe one day I will meet a woman and think she really knows about football but until then its going to be hard to change my views with no evidence to the contrary.
