Lets be honest...The comment about Sian Massey was absolutely not a joke! It was Andy Gray and Keys stating that women dont know the rules and that she's a bad official because she's a woman. This one, whilst being a joke, is still not acceptable for someone in his position (or indeed anyone) to say. Like has been said however, it was 11 years ago and I don't think it should affect his new job. Do you really believe that Keys and Gray think that the Premier League would appoint an official who did NOT know the offside rule. Come on WY, think about it. Of course they knew she knew the offside rule, it was just typical male banter about a female official. It's too ridiculous for words to take the Keys and Gray comment about her not knowing the offside rule literally. Obviously they knew she knew the offside rule, but it wasn't a joke. They were deliberately stating that she would be a lesser official because of her gender. keys+gray=twats

People rip the p*ss out of others as a joke. Have you ever said anything derogatory about woman drivers ? I read a lot of light hearted banter on here when we were all taking our families to Wembley about how we'd have to explain the offside rule to our wives. Football is predominantly a male sport so when women get involved its just that male thing kicking in. Yes, all a bit silly a bit lads together mentality but ffs lighten up and don't get so easily offended and wound up by something that 99.9% of us on here have participated in at some point in our lives - having a joke at the expense of a female.

It's not banter, it's self-righteousness by two dinosaurs who refuse to allow themselves to move with the times.

It shows how far we've come doesn't it. I mean 20 yars ago keys and Grey could have made the comments live and no one would have cared, ten years ago they could have done it and there'd have been some loopy Germaine Greer type ranting about inequality, today the pair of 'em get the sack and rightly so IMO.

Point is Im not sure it was banter. The tone of their voice was as if baby kittens were being burnt alive by terrorists.

Point is Im not sure it was banter. The tone of their voice was as if baby kittens were being burnt alive by terrorists. In agreement here, RO. Their tone suggested anything other than 'banter' or a 'joke'. Richard Keys 'Do me a favour, love' was said with some vitriol. Keys seems to be the bigger d*ckhead of the two (Andy 'wise-after-the-event' Gray was always one to start with, granted). His pathetic attempts to be one of the lads - 'smash it', 'choco jocko' and the Sian Massey comments - all reek of a man who desperately wants to be part of the pundits' inner circle having never played the game himself. His lame attempts at changing room banter have justifiably got him sacked. Personally, I don't find his comments that offensive, but there is a time and a place for them. Risking them between cuts on TV when you're about to go live is not the place to air your 'jokes' and likewise I don't think too many of us would be using the expression 'choco jocko' to describe a black Scottish colleague at our own places of work either. We all say stuff that might be a bit risque at times, but never in front of people we don't know nor at work. Keys' comments were in a workplace and could have ultimately been broadcast to millions. He just couldn't keep his mouth shut.

The world has gone mad. He shouldnt have said it, but the reaction is so over the top, as if he is a member of the Klu Klux Clan or something like that. We live in such a ridiculous political vorrect society, and its going to far yet again. His comment was stupid, but to throw the racism card at him, what a joke

But we dont What calling someone a 'chocko jocko' isn't racist then? It might be a pretty soft racist comment but the fact that it is racist at all is bad enough; if you truly believe there is no place in this country for racism. At the end of the day it not all that serious and as I said above it was 11 years ago but for someone in Keys' position it is totally unacceptable.

The sexist comments were unacceptable, he was playing with fire by making them and got fired. I agree the media crusade which has dredged up this latest bit is over-the-top but you're kind of asking for it when you f#ck up your high-profile career makeing a d!ckhead comment you shouldn't have made and get caught.
