A surreal scoreline in many ways.
When you think that Rochdale have just got out of league two after 40 odd years to beat a club of Wednesday's stature is impressive. I would doubt whether 'Dale and Wednesday have competed on equal terms in the football league, before this current season.
I know it tells a story about where Wednesday are currently at - they are struggling.

I know it tells a story about where Wednesday are currently at - they are struggling. When I was a kid Rochdale were always the joke side. I always seem to recall them finishing one place above relegation or having to apply for re-election to stay in the league and it would have been the height of embarrassment to have been beaten by them. Good luck to them though. They've got a good manager and play a nice brand of football and it just shows that every dog has it's day in football. Their time is now and I think they might even be capable of emulating Doncaster and that really would throw up some unthinkable fixtures !

Given that i was born in Rochdale i always have a sly smile whenever they do well. Was glad for them when they went up after however many years, especially since they'd lost out in the playoffs the year before.

The best finish in their history is 9th in the 3rd division.
Must be really dull supporting them

They got to the final of the League Cup in 1962 whilst in Division 4.
Lost though.
Formed in 1907, they were accepted into the Football League in 1921. Since that time, they have generally remained rooted to the bottom division of League football, though they did win promotion in 1969, only to be relegated back in 1974. However, the side finished the 2009-10 campaign in third place in League Two, winning promotion to League One for the coming season. Although the club have not won any competitions since joining the League, they do have the distinction of playing in the final of the League Cup in 1962, the only bottom division team to have done so.

Rochdale were ranked as one of the worst sides on FIFA so I would always play as them (for the challenge) while we were down in the conference. I was happy for them when they got promotion last season.
