Glad the Government have told the EU to get stuffed regarding votes for prisoners.
I hope this is the start of a possible wind of change because this issue highlights the absurdity of rules and legislation being forced on us against our wishes.
We should be glad we have a government with balls instead of lilly livered lefties bending over and treating the electorate with contempt....

Its a start but I want to see Cameron lead with an iron fist and show the same resolve on more pressing issues.

The voting ban should be extended to cover idiots like you who don't even know the difference between government and parliament.

The vote was an open vote left to individual MPs' wishes and those against prisoner voting won by 234-22, I believe. This has nothing to do with the current government standing up to anybody, this has to do with the vast majority of MPs in Parliament being against prisoners voting or not wanting to vote on such a contentious issue or assuming abstaining effectively counts as a 'yes' vote. You can't turn everything to support the Tories moobs, this has absolutely nothing to do with the current government. Under a Labour government the same thing would happen because they have to vote it through Parliament, and being a moral issue, it is cast as an open vote.

True but Cameron is against the right as a sovereign nation to be forced to assume these laws by the EU. Brown & Bliar would just accept it and the parliament vote would just be a pointless formality

This legislation would never have been passed, under brown and blair it would have been defeated in exactly the same way. Most of the house, including labour, voted against it with Cameron as PM, why would that have been any different under blair or brown?
