I'm not going to lie and say I'm an expert on finance...but how does this list of footballs riches clubs work? I swear I saw Barcelona failed to pay their players one month? And do Chelsea, Man U and City not have massive debts? Basically is it all down to how much money the club has? Or is it to do with the assets that they have? www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12376035

It's based on the years revenue only

Yep based on annual revenue for last financial year so debts aren't really relevant.
Man United have big debts (well the owners have big debts that they have secured against Man United and blatantly financing through Man United), Man City are effectively debt free as the owner just invests in the form of equity rather than loans, and Chelsea are in debt but I believe mostly only to Abrahamovich.
