U's winger Simon Hackney has joined Oxford United until the end of the season.
The wide man has found first team opportunities limited this season and joins the League Two side on a loan basis.
Manager John Ward told the official website: "This is a good move for Simon.
"He has been injured or out of the squad since Christmas and the team shape has developed without him in that time.
"He needs to go out and play somewhere and I am pleased for him that Oxford have come in and offered this opportunity.
"Simon will be a good asset for them, they're just outside of the top seven at the moment and he could help them break into those play-off places."
The winger signed from Carlisle two years ago, and has made just 35 league appearances in that time.

Replacement for Jennison, who was not eligible
As if any more proof were needed that the club does NOT bother doing their home work when it comes to signing wingers

The other winger has left The one we signed like 3 days ago? Haha yeah, I was confused too, but he's already played for 2 teams in a year so he can't play for anyone else now.

Got this from a Colchester fan
“@ColU_Official: A tricky winger who likes to get at his man. He has a good burst of pace and can send over a decent crossâ€Â
“@ColU_Official: He has found his chances limited via a back injury and then the fact the team was settled by the time he was fitâ€Â

That was the Colchester official page Junior, sounds promising, and will give us more options in attack, and a more natural left sided player if we want to switch to 442 in games.
Adds a bit of pace to the side too, especially now matt green has gone.

"Predominantly left footed but has come on down the right side for us. Isn't afraid to drift in off the flanks to get a shot inâ€Â

Saw him play a few times for Carlisle when he was with them a couple of years back, looked a tidy player then. He likes to take on his man and has the tricks to do it. Has a decent cross on him too or can cut inside and always seemed to put the effort in. Wouldn't say he was that pacey but compensated for that by being slippery and playing with chalk on his boots.
A very good signing IMO, Wilder just has to find somewhere to play him now.

Had a good reputation at Carlisle a few years ago. Usual reservations on loans aside, best of luck to him, he is going to need it. Left wingers at our club appear cursed.

I think this'll mean Clist will play less. Clist hasn't been at the races the past few games, I think Clist's limitations are being shown up by league 2 and Clist doesn't have much pace.
Might be a risk playing a winger on the left of a midfield three though.

He strikes me as less of a winger and more of a left midfielder from the little I know about him, if that makes any sense. I don't think he'd struggle to fit in the way that, say Deering does in the centre of midfield.

From what I remember of him from his carlisle days he could fit in in the centre of the midfield but you'd be wasting his talents there. I think he, like deering, would potentially be a bit lightweight to be fully comfortable there too.

Might be a risk playing a winger on the left of a midfield three though. Clist has been an important part of the midfield in the recent run. He has given it balance and his workrate going forward or closing opponents down alongside Hall (who also works hard) has helped the midfield to compete even when outnumbered as they were by Cheltenham. McLaren is a key player but Clist remains a must for me as well. Clist makes the odd mistake but all of OUFC's players do that as well. An example of Clist's play vs Cheltenham was when Tonks got tackled near their area after Clist had gone wide left as an option, Cheltenham broke, Clist got back and closed down their player and won the ball back near our area. For me, he is an example of a 'box to box' midfielder. McLaren allows Hall and Clist to do this but Clist is doing an important job for the team as well. As for Simon Hackney, he will start on the bench and imo, is far more likely to be part of the front 3 (like Alfie) or as a wide left midfielder. I don't expect to see SH play as a left central midfielder (unless in an emergency, ie. sending off when all subs have been used) considering on the sidelines we have Heslop, Payne or at a stretch, Sangare or LSD.

Hackett or Hackney? What the feck is going on here? Official site seems to think Hackett, even in the match preview tonight.
