Great to see a local lad playing a major role in the team, another one or two of the same would be even better. Josh has drawn praise from his manager recently, and it must be a great boost for the player. ''“Josh Ruffels is a fantastic player, a fantastic person and is someone who can fulfil that role.'' Pity some fans can't show a little bit more patience with individual players, whether 'home grown' or from over seas. The slating Tiendalli has taken was so ott, yes he didn't start off as well as he might have, a number of factors are probably behind this, but slowly but surely he's rewarding the faith shown in him by Pep, so let's support the lad for a change and not hope he slips up so some can say 'Told you so.'

Fans opinions of players often vary but for some reason each season there is one that cops most of the flak

Personally I never boo, shout abuse or criticism at a player on the field of play, to my mind it’s totally counter productive. For sure I get frustrated and none more so than earlier this season when Johnson plainly wasn’t putting the effort in. However after match discussions whether they be in the pub or on here then it’s perfectly reasonable to vent your spleen.

Also frustrates me when the crowd boo or heckle when we keep possession in the opposition’s half (I’m not talking about the playing across the centre-backs element) and constantly shout “SHOOT” or “FORWARDS”. Keeping the ball is so important to our play and getting on the player’s back seems so counter-productive. Repeatedly we carve out opportunities and chances by patiently maintaining possession and of course has the added bonus of meaning that we’re less likely to concede. As I say, I get that many don’t like the repeated passing across our own 18-yard box but again, getting on the player’s backs always feels like a real own goal which can only do harm.

Martin Gray and Smudger got unreasonable flak at different times when they were pivotal to our style of play by doing the defensive work of the midfield.
