Eastwood: 6.5 - Not sure if he could have done more with the goals or not. Made a couple of decent punches and saves. Kicking was ok bar a couple.
Carroll: 6 - Looks comfortable on the ball but doesn’t exactly bomb forward and caught out on the break a few times. His clearing header could have been better before their goal
Nelson: 5 - Not sure what happened to him today, kept giving the ball away, looked slow and weak in the air.
Mousinho: 7 - Impressive, classy on the ball, solid enough generally
Ricardinho: 6 - Ok the guy is calm on the ball and a bit of a cult hero but my god he likes to live dangerously, two mistakes today which could have easily led to goals
Henry: 6.5 - You can see he has class and he works hard but his shooting was poor and he lacks pace
Ledson: 6.5 - Works so hard, passes well but has to be marked down for that awful penalty from which we never really recovered
Ruffles: 7 - Good goal, puts himself about if slightly anonymous at times. Definitely worth his place
Mowatt: 6.5 - First half he didn’t do a great deal, but I actually thought he was doing well when he got taken off. Clearly has talent and links up with Payne well. Could maybe thrive centrally?
Payne: 7 - Up until his goal he was poor, nothing was coming off, but he clearly has natural ability and works hard.
Thomas: 6 - Not his best game. Poor touch when he was through on goal in the first half.
Subs:
Rothwell: 7.5 - Did well, looked lively and actually drove forward with the ball from midfield which is what we needed. Should have scored though
Obika: 6.5 - Not much time, but showed good strength

I thought Wes was a 7, lack of service isn't his fault and you can't ask an isolated lone striker to do much more than him today
Pretty much agree with everything else
Nelson a 5 but you can't make the mistakes he does, at the rate he is

I don't think his age / homegrown status should detract from the fact that Canice had a very poor game. Stupid booking, lots of bad decision making and he was absolutely rinsed multiple times down that side. He cannot track runners properly and is actually quite flat footed. He never wins a foot race. I don't think he's a full back what so ever, and that's no fault of his. He will learn, I'm not crucifying him, but he was poor and looked his age. We win that game with Ribeiro, hands down.
Eastwood 7 Carroll 5 Nelson 6 Mousinho 6 Ricardinho 6 Ledson 6 Ruffels 7 Henry 6 Payne 7 Mowatt 7 Thomas 7

They tried to grab the ball off him and he wouldn't give it to them. It was our ball and as such they had no right to try and get it off him. The ref on whole was OK but that booking and their lack of bookings was the only issue.

Overall summary: Dominated the first half with intricate, slick football but got done by high balls into our box. No excuses for not seeing the game out at 3-1 up, sometimes this team is too focused on playing the Pep way rather than doing the right things. Second half was a much more even affair.
EASTWOOD 6 - Nice punch in the first half to clear danger, decent save in the second. Other than that not much to judge, although conceded 3.
CARROLL 5 - Looks a tidy player with decent technique and a confident attitude. Unfortunately the majority of attacks/crosses came from his side of the pitch and he was at fault for the 1st goal. Also had an irritating habit of trying to throw the ball long to a small player marked by one of their giant defenders so we lost possession every time.
NELSON 6 - Not one of his better games although he got a goal and sweeped up danger effectively. Let the ball bounce just before Moore hit the crossbar and needs to be more aggressive dealing with balls into the box.
MOUSINHO 7 - Looks assured on the ball and is a good addition to the back line; again not the tallest/strongest so we're susceptible to those long balls.
RICARDINHO 7 - Quality on the ball and gets himself out of dangerous situations with ease. Definitely class at this level.
LEDSON 8 - Although he took a poor pen (surely we have better options?!) he is the definition of a tenacious DM. Knows when the close down and won us possession countless times. Barely gives the ball away.
RUFFELS 8 - Keeps getting better in his role and is scoring frequently. Work rate was unbelievable and again he barely gave it away
HENRY 6 - After a promising first half where he interplay with the other forwards looked immense he just frustrated in the second. Very wasteful in promising positions and never looked a danger to score.
PAYNE 8 - Absolute class. Was at the heart of all the slick football we played in the first half and has superb technique with the ball at his feet. His ability to turn a tight marker is phenomenal!
MOWATT 7 - No pace but worked hard and played some tidy two-touch football. Would like to see him used in a xmas tree formation next to Payne, especially since Hall is out. Seems a little wasted out wide
THOMAS 6 - Some classy play but in general was bullied by a couple of giant defenders. Had a couple of decent chances which were squandered.

Agree, i am confused as to why it was a booking, i thought the ref was going to book there player for pushing Canice. Personally thought ref was poor today, not sure how many fouls there players had to commit to get a booking. Just me that thought there was a foul on Ruffels? for there goal look like whoever it was got a push in the back and fell.

If Henry put his laces through the bloody ball he could have had a couple of goals today, are his feet made of marshmallow?

Surprised to see Canice looking two tired last 10 minutes. Lacked a bit of fitness or didn't get his pacing right?
Christmas came early yesterday. Two of their goals and one of ours were gifts. That said, some of our goals this season have resulted from such good football they should count double.

I aggree with the majority of the ratings except Moush who failed to react for the second goal and lost his man for the third. Would give everyone a 7 except Wes (i thought Obika was better and fell over less) but for me nelson was also a bit suspect too much faffing around passing between him and eastwood often leaving one to lump it forward in a worse position than one had a few passes earlier and gave the ball away which in the third goal meant Canice who was offering himself for (wait for this, an actual forward pass!) was out of position. I've said it before i think the difference between us winning (but maybe a bit more functional in play) was playing (and scoring twice) for Wigan in Chey Dunkley. Dont get me wrong Moush is a better player of the ball but I dont want defenders to be the next messi. I want them to be a rock head the ball out, crunch into the tackle, bully the big centre forward and come up with the odd towering header in the other end. That's what we are missing now.
