Hope he scores many more. Improved confidence and we can recall, although I suspect a bid of £100K will secure him

I suspect a bid of nil will secure him. He's not very good. Nowhere near L1 standard.

Comfortably Appleton's worst signing. And one of the worst we ever made considering the fee.
Just think if this season's Wes Thomas had played the number of games Hemmings did last season.

1 goal in 9 in league 2 says it all really. We dont need him back. Even Gino will score more goals and hes got some serious limitations

Man i didnt realise he got a 3 year deal last summer, he has nearly 2 years left on it.
He wont be on cheap wages.
We will find it difficult to offload him unless he starts performing.

Still see Hemmings as something of a panic buy following the Taylor handshake collapse saga.

Comfortably Appleton's worst signing. And one of the worst we ever made considering the fee. On a par or worse than Deane Smalley? He wasn’t an Appleton signing. Wilder brought him in and then gave him a contract extension to boot! They have parallels in that both were overpriced for what we received. I couldn’t get worked up over Kane Hemmings nor enjoyed his performances with us. No doubt a team player but a leaden-footed quiet operator who never looked adept at coping with our system. Another Patrick Hoban in other words. It’s all been said and done that he was the wrong fit for us and thankfully he’s now gone. I’d be amazed if we ever saw him in the yellow of Oxford again though. Get £100k for him and I’d be happy for his wage to be off our books.

The comparison between Hemmings and Smalley is interesting, both strikers came in for fee both totally failed to prove themself. I think Smalley was a worse football player than Hemmings though. Plus you are right, heaven knows why Wilder rated him so highly (I think I remember Smalley being picked over Pittman and Beano). As for Hemmings I agree I doubt we will see him much again playing for Oxford. He isn't the quality we need. If we get 100k for him I think like others I will be amazed. I think this one is heading for contract cancelled by mutual consent at the end of the season. Shame really i wanted it to work for him.

I remember when someone on here used to say he would outscore Danny Hylton if he was in the same league! Reading their forum it looks like he will be coming back in January unless that goal is the first of a few. Maybe our best hope is to try and punt him back up north into that glorified sunday league that is the SPL.

I can’t quite see how it didn’t work out for him here. He seems to have the attributes of a striker, but without the application. He never really showed us enough on the pitch to warrant a regular starting place and so It feels like the end of the road for him with us, that long contract will have to be sorted out but i hope he finds his shooting boots somwhere along the line.

Simple, we don’t play with a poacher as a striker. He never had the pace of say roofe to play off the striker, or the ability in the air and power of Thomas and obika to play the lone role. I agree with someone who said it above, he was signed in panic after missing out on Taylor. Trouble is I think the scouting department went more on his abilities, rather than how they would fit in the system

I thought Hemmings was c**p from the first minute I saw him. Overweight, lazy, slow. I genuinely think Hoban was a better player. As was Smalley.....

Comfortably Appleton's worst signing. And one of the worst we ever made considering the fee. On a par or worse than Deane Smalley? Considerably worse. Smalley cost 'only' 90k no? Hemmings was a marquee signing and one of our biggest outlays for years. From day one he looked off the pace. And it was hardly helped that Mapp didn't quite know how or where to play him

And it was hardly helped that Mapp didn't quite know how or where to play him I agree for the cost he has been not worth the cash. Smalley was with us a league lower (although it now seems Hemmings isn't cutting it there either). With Smalley I litterally here no idea why Wilder rated him so much. What was so annoying about him was that we had better strikers at the club that got dropped so he could play. With Hemmings up until McAleny was bought in we didn't have much better. There must be a system that suits Hememings more as he did score for fun up north (not sure what to make of that in terms of the level of Scottish Football) its just we don't play it. So maybe someone will get better results from him, Smalley proved that he really isn't much cop anywhere.

Hemmings’ goal and he might have had two. Not exactly Messi level that goal. Still at least he was in the right place. Barnet fans sound a happy, supportive lot.
