Racial background, sexual orientation, religion, disability, transgender status. These may all be 'tags' (i.e. descriptions of groups of people) but they're accurate descriptions rather than 'pish', and they're the categories that, in law, can be the subject of hate crimes. I don't think a mentally disadvantaged person who is subjected to bullying because of his disability needs to 'get a grip', I think he needs support and, if possible, justice. Would said mentally disadvantaged person be actually offended and/or have the comprehension to complain or would somebody else be "offended on their behalf" ? I`m not saying its right but there is a world of difference between reporting a hate "crime" and a prosecutable, indictable crime where the offender can be brought to court prosecuted & charged. Out of interest do you know how many recognised gender identification terms there are? 71....... now if thats not tagging to the nth degree I don`t know what is. Pandering too, legislating and generally inconveniencing the majority of society is what breeds intolerance nothing else.
