What’s everyone’s thoughts so far on the new manager and recruitments, telling it like it is I think the majority of the new signings aren’t as good as the players we have let go and most see quite injury prone, I hope the ‘sign promising youngsters higher up the pyramid and bring them on’ hasn’t gone out of the window, discuss.

I will play along as this is obviously fishing?! Mousinho - Dunkley = Upgrade Payne - Maguire = Upgrade Ricardinho - Skarz = Upgrade Gino - Johnson = Downgrade although as an impact sub has made things happen Tiandelli - Edwards = Not fit yet so cannot judge Obika - Taylor = Same fitness levels and on games played Obika edges it Xemi?? - Lundstram?? = Still finding his feet but looks to have quality
Rothwell, Ruffles and Hall have performed better this season with the gaps that have opened in the squad with departures.
As for Pep, very reasoned and never too high in victory or low in defeat and always looking to improve. Far better start than MApp had in his first season.

I think that both MAPP and De suggested that this was far more difficult as PL clubs especially are after ridiculous amounts for players and in addition far more teams are on the lookout for such players. I am sure that the club would love to continue to do this but the club did suggest that they were having to look further afield to get the gems.

I think you have to say Tiandelli and Xemi are downgrades (that's not to say they won't prove themselves eventually) because Edwards and Lundstram would have played all, or most, of the games so far and given you 7/10 performances every week, where as Tiandelli and Xemi haven't offered much. Yet.

Agree with above but would also add, I think that both Rothwell and Ruffels are better than Sercombe, and we've banked circa £4m

Rothwell, Ledson and particularly Ruffels are upgrades on themselves from last season. And Ribeiro has been a great addition, essentially.

I think we'd have a much clearer view what Pep is trying to achieve if he'd had more of this first choice squad available.

Does Henry not deserve a mention? He's getting better with every game?

In addition to the players coming in, we have seen the likes of Thomas, Ruffels and Rothwell really step it up from last year. I think this has a lot to do with Pep and his understanding of the game. Each of them look much fitter and stronger, but they also seem to be in the right place at the right time - and this is something that a good coach gets from his players.
Thomas is full of running, but equally he seems to be always looking to make the right run rather than running round aimlessly. This means that he's not wasting energy on lost causes but saves his energy for when it matters.
Ruffels and Rothwell have always been tidy players, but both now seem to find themselves in space at the right time. Teddy Sheringham used to stop running into the box and let the defenders drop back whilst he found space at the edge of the box. Again, these are the things that appear easy but it takes a good coach to spot and add to our game.

This means that he's not wasting energy on lost causes but saves his energy for when it matters. This really stuck out last night, despite all his efforts there were quite a few times when the ball's not too far away from WT and he's standing with his hands on his hips. It can be bloody frustrating to see from a spectator's point of view but I guess you've got to trust that he knows what he's doing.

It can be bloody frustrating to see from a spectator's point of view but I guess you've got to trust that he knows what he's doing. Fans expect players to chase every ball for 90 minutes but it's just not realistic. England rugby players only train for 22 minutes because that is how long they expect to be active in any given period. This allows them to give 100% when it matters. Thomas will be better coached to see the balls he should chase down and those that are dead causes. That's not reason for frustration but the sign of a better player.
