I see the ladies won again today.
I wonder, is there and OUWFC version of Fans View who could post the occasional match report on here?

I have a ST but won't be able to attend any games until Man City on November 2nd. Bit disappointed - bloody holidays!
Genuinely delighted for the team - very good win today. I have to admit I felt a bit spoiled being able to listen to the game on the (online) radio.
I think there's a lot to be positive about with the women's team this season and prior to the season starting I expected a top half finish. It seems my optimism has been justified so far - long may it continue! Andy Cook has assembled a really good squad, with 13 signings since the end of last season. Credit to the board for backing him and the players for putting their trust in him as well. A lot of the players have mentioned him as one of the reasons for signing, so it shows how well-respected he must be within the game, even though he's still a very young manager. Donny Belles next weekend will be a good test to see where we are as a team.
I'm still not convinced moving the season in line with the men's is the wisest decision, though. Not only does it now have direct competition from the men's game - whereas over the summer it had it's own time and place - it also has the shitty British winter to contend with. Being a largely family orientated fan base, it will inevitably impact attendances, which seems counter-productive when you're trying to encourage growth.
I hope more people give it a chance. I'm obviously a little bias because I enjoy the women's game for a number of reasons - some more than the men's game - but I honestly believe it represents excellent value for money, too. £1 if you have a men's ST or £5 otherwise (£2 concessions) is dirt cheap.

Many pro's and con's for moving to a winter league. Surely running the league through the peak holiday period must have had an effect on attendances?

I went to the first league game at CPF, and will be going again. Go with an open mind and it is very entertaining. New manager and the new players have really improved things, there is still a bit of gelling to happen, you can see there is more to come, bit can't really argue with 2 wins in 2. There is some really good skill on display, and I was surprised by the the of physicality in the play (in a good way). Left back Ellis Hillman put in my OUFC performance of the weekend the game I saw (better than any in the mens game the day before), pace, skill, determination.
As has been said, it's really decent value (£1 adult if you have a men's season ticket, £5 otherwise, lots of concessions. Stuff for kids to do. The bar is open if you want a drink. Next game is Sunday at 4pm (later than normal due to the half marathon blocking the roads outside) v Doncaster Belles.

Many pro's and con's for moving to a winter league. Surely running the league through the peak holiday period must have had an effect on attendances? I think the women's game will continue to grow regardless of whether the season was moved - because it has momentum and that's definitely the way the game is headed - I just feel it could have grown more during the warmer months. Last season we experienced 85% growth in attendances. I think that figure may be skewed a little by the family day that was held at the ground, but it's still very impressive, especially when you consider results were pretty poor. Almost all WSL teams experienced strong growth last year. With moving to the winter, not only do fans have to endure the poor weather, women's football now has direct competition from the men's game at all times, for both live attendances and television audiences. With so much live football on TV and a (presumably) limited time to watch football at home, it will almost certainly split audiences. But like you said, there are positives. For me the biggest positive for moving to the new format is the improved flow of the season. It's a lot less stop-start this year, which makes it a lot easier to follow and culminates with the FA Cup final at Wembley. A really nice day out, though if I never hear or see another clacker (is that what they're called?) again I'll die a happy man.

A good result for the women's team again on Saturday. A big turn around from last season ... Great point. Doncaster are a very good team, so to be able to hold our own says a lot about the team this season. It's even more impressive when you consider we lost 0-4 to them just a few months ago and didn't win a game during the Spring Series. Incredible turnaround really - full credit to 'em. And yes, we play Man City in the Continental Cup. We are also involved in the FA Cup, but WSL teams aren't entered until the later rounds (4th I think) which are played in February.
