i watched the game from around 10mins in and actually thought we were easily the better side in the first half despite the scoreline but just lacked that bit of quality in the final 3rd. Obviously they managed to sort that out 2nd half. Glad the players stuck to the task and kept believing in themselves. Was a really good team performance today. Fair play to Pep as well, dropping Williamson (and Ledson/GVK) was the right thing to do.

Kept my council on this one. Privately thought it would be a big defeat. Boy was I wrong - thankfully. Need momentum now - no complacency allowed. More of the same on Saturday please.

Wonder if this thread will get to 19 pages like the Bury one?

One might think high flying Peterborough were terrible having lost by 3 clear goals at home but they were not, heads went down after the third but they had their chances in for the most part, a very open and most enjoyable game. Most noticeable for me was the tangible difference in shape at the back with Ribeiro having an excellent 75 minutes stifling his opponent and getting forward when he could. Great round of applause when he came off and a smart move by Pep to put some fresh legs on to try and protect the advantage. Rothwell I thought was very good as was Payne, neither of them stopped and ran Shrews into the ground. Henry was excellent. Second half we did what we had to, rode our luck at times and threw caution to the wind and really went for it, as confidence grew throughout the whole team it was quite palpable and the win was just deserts. A very good team performance with everyone (including the Oxford fans) playing their part. A very good day at the office and lets hope we can gain momentum from this and recover some consistency. One of my Party, must remain nameless in case his wife reads this and who is a closet Posh fan clean up with the bookies big time by default he had a £2 win £2 correct score double Fleetwood 1 Charlton 3 and Peterborough 1 Oxford 4.. he meant to do the Peterborough win but cocked up. The Milky bars are on him tonight...yeeaaahh.

Just back.
An enjoyable, but quite odd game. We were better in the first half than we have been recently, but epitomised the phrase 'shot shy'. In fact I don't think we had a shot on target all half. Thomas had a chance he should possibly have done better with (he put it wide), but apart from that we didn't look threatening. Having said that, Ribeiro and Ruffles made a difference, as did having Nelson on his proper side of the defence and Thomas did well getting and holding the ball. Worrying to see Hall go off - looked like he'd pulled a groin muscle.
Second half was for some reason a completely different story as far as goal threat went. We scored four and but for some dodgy pass/shoot decision making could have had seven easily. Noticeably there was actually some shooting from a little way out before we scored - which I think helps as it is much easier for defenders if they KNOW you are going to try to walk it into the net! Once they have to get out to stop players shooting it makes much more room.
It wasn't all plain sailing, Peterborough looked pretty dangerous and hit the woodwork a couple of times, Eastwood made three excellent saves and we cleared one off the line. We still allow crosses in too easily. But even disregarding the score, it was a huge improvement on what we have seen over the last three games.
Is it significant that Peterborough didn't really press our back line as much as other teams have? Very probably.

Some may disagree but sometimes losing a key player like Hall can actually help a team and unsettle an opposition. I wish Hall a speedy recovery as he is a key player for us but his departure seemed to force our players look for other options rather than the attitude of look for Hall. This led Posh to begin to wonder where the threat was now. In the second half Posh seemed like a deer in headlights as threats came from everywhere.

Cut off supply to the people who can hurt you. Force the defenders to go long and bypass the creative heart of the team.

I think Pep actually adopted the tactic of bypassing the midfield and being more direct given the way he was indicating to Eastwood not to roll the ball out. Worked a treat especially for the second goal. A plan B..at last

Got back about an hour ago. What a fantastic result. Maybe Pep heard the chants of ' Why don't we shoot and used it at half time.😀. Could have been more but easy to forget Eastwood had to make 3 very good saves as well. Glad I went thats for sure.

Bloody brilliant! Predicted 3-1 win to us on the basis of a) us getting a result when you least expect it and b) Posh fans being surprisingly nervous about their team and this game. Very happy to be proved wrong. Nice one Pep and the team. Understand frustration at dire performances, but I hope some folks will show a bit more patience now. Rome wasn't built in a day. Up The Manor!

Great result and well played. Also very well done to Pep and Faz for making some important changes to the starting line up. Very pleased to see a more balanced back four...very pleased to see Ruffles back in, Rothwell and Payne back on form (even if he want wearing scoring boots) and Henry have a properly decent game. Also pleased to see out of form Ledson and Williamson given a much needed rest and that we have more to us than get it to Hall...even if the circumstances that forced this were not ideal.
Happy days again....long may it continue.

Glad you mentioned Easty - the save in the first half from Taylor's close range header with his other hand was ridiculously good. A show stopper! He also made - as you stated - two other flying saves in the second half from Maddison and Marriott.

So good that the Loungers are booked ready for Brizzle away! Faith restored? - Just about. Now stuff the Wombles and take revenge for last season. (No Deadman as ref please!) I think Mr Deadman has been removed from the register of referees!

Great game today, Payne what a player he is, thought Ribs was excellent just hope he keeps fit as he seems to be growing in confidence and getting forward more. Was their goal offside?
