I don't like shopping at the best of times and only go under protest after Mrs P has gobbled me off...

Can't see that opening on time, looks miles behind schedule! I got told it's opening in stages, with John Lewis opening first and the rest following, but then I also got told they hope to have the whole complex up and running by Christmas, which seems unlikely to me, but apparently they are working 24 hours now, so if they throw enough man power at it then maybe.

I can't believe they had a blank canvas, huge budget, were looking to regenerate Oxford, and made it so ugly and uninspiring

The city is gridlocked every day as it is. It will be carnage when it opens, yes John Lewis is first then the rest bit by bit. When every shopaholic in the south of England wants to come here to check it out you won't be able to get near the place, every corridor in and out of the city will be blocked.

I doubt every shopaholic in the south of England will be heading there.
I can't see it making too much difference. Milton Keynes and Reading are an hour away, even London is an hour on the train. I would imagine it'll be full of Chinese tourists wondering around aimlessly whilst filling their previously bought Bicester Village suitcases.

It wasn't exactly a work of art before, plus I will just be glad when I can go about my business in town without it feeling like I am on a giant building site. Oxford needs it anyhow, not the worlds biggest shopper but it will be nice to have something decent near by, plus it's some extra nightlife.

Been in the City Centre today - looks really impressive but loads of work still to do before it opens in a months time. It's far bigger than I thought.

I just figured since we're a world Fabius and beautiful city they could have done more. Matched it to the style of Christchurch or something architecturally. Have you seen central baths new shopping district? Amazing!!!

I haven't shopped in Oxford for years,a new Westgate won't change my mind. The council's policy of driving cars out of Oxford has worked,it's also driven the shopper away. Park and Ride ? Don't make me laugh. Apart from driving round and round trying to find somewhere to park, waiting for a bus to and from,it costs £2.80 each + the cost of parking your car. So it takes me half an hour to drive to Seacourt P&R,10 minutes to park,10 minutes waiting for a bus,10 minutes to get into the city,so around an hour and i get charged £12+ for 4 of us,even for 2 of us its around £7 for the privilege. I can drive to Newbury in 25 minutes, park smack bang in the town centre and get charged 80p for 3 hours parking. It has everything i need and some decent pubs for lunch.

I will use it and it's something Oxford needs as the shopping is terrible in town and the same can be said for the night life!
If I actually wanted to visit shops it's normally London or Reading for me.

Doesn’t mean that’s the same for everyone though. I can drive into oxford and park for £5 per day. I can get a bus that’s every 15mins Or can park at radley and get the train in. All similar prices, and a much better shopping centre will massively increase the likelihood of doing so.

I quite like the look of it actually, as far as shopping centres go anyway. If it takes some of the lurking language students away from Bonn Square and Cornmarket as well then all the better.

Had a turn around this lunch time and honestly wasn't too impressed. A lot of empty units, plenty still waiting to open, and many of the open ones have just moved in from other bits of the city centre. Plus the whole thing's blatantly not finished yet.
Feels like they've misjudged the appetite for new shops to open in the city centre.

Just been, Wow! Its amazing! So much choice and thats with more units to come! The rooftop bars and restaurants look nice when they will be open.
Still needs little bits finishing off, but its way better than i thought.

I don't like shopping at the best of times and only go under protest after Mrs P has gobbled me off... So it's been open a few days and she wants me to take her at the weekend. And has offered me a meal of my choice and whatever else I fancy... And how could I say no?
