With De Boer being sacked today and Leicester 1 win in 4 and their next 3 league games Huddersfield (A), Liverpool (H) and Bournemouth (A) on the 30th September is it possible MApp could be out of a job on the 1st Oct?
Odd one because he was immense for us and made a huge decision however I feel we have moved up a level with Pep and the widespread respect he seems to have in the game.

It`ll be Shakespeare that gets the can & Apps can step up, double his money again, and see what happens. Its been his plan since he went there.

No I expect Leicester to pick up 6 points from those games although not really fussed with what happens with Appleton now.

Leicester will not recruit from within again if Shakespeare gets the heave-ho. I expect Appleton will be gone too should that happen.

He has a 3 year contract so would get paid off no matter what happens.

No it won't - when/if Leicester decide to do anything ALL the backroom folks will go as well allowing the new man to pick his own. I half expected this scenario - not that I want MAPP to suffer (3 years money is not "suffering" anyway) but I will always feel that if he had stayed most of the "leavers" would have stayed as well.

I wonder if MAPP sees what is happening at Oxford and secretly wonders what might have been ....
Having said that it is far too early to write off Leicester who have had a very difficult start.

I think he's sees what's happening at Oxford and thinks 'yes, i made the right call'. Just a shame he couldn't have made in about 2 months earlier after whingeing about budgets. He will never be given that job and I'd be amazed if Shakespeare lasted the season

To be fair they have had a very tough start, lost to Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd and the game they should have won they did. I thought they looked decent in most of the games too.

Well if they have their replacement lined up the next day maybe. Even so they poached him from us and he is an investment. He's a highly rated British coach so can't see him being cannon fodder if Shakespeare is sacked. If a foreign/british coach is brought in he would probably want to keep him on in some capacity. Would be pointless paying compensation for him to sack him within 3 months.

Best performance today for 20 years imo. Reminiscent of the mid 90's in the Championship.

What about PL Swansea in the cup ? 4-1 away at Pompey ? As we are going back 20 years, consecutive home wins in 98,4-1 QPR,3-0 WBA in the Championship. No idea what sort of superlatives you would have come up with if we had actually won last night ?

What's the worst thing that happens? Shakespeare gets sacked and so does he, pocketing a fortune in compensation in the process and walking into a management job at a very good L1 club, maybe even somewhere in the Championship?
He's fine either way, and so are we.

Their fixtures get much easier now and theyre playing OK, so they should start picking up points.
If they are still in this position in a month, then questions will start being asked.

I would imagine that Leicester would clear the back room if Shakespeare went.
However, I would put money on the fact that MAPP gets employed &/or gets a better job than Shakespeare once it happens - peobably in the Championship

Said he felt the time was right to leave as well as the chance to coach in the PL as a Brit being too much, due to the lack of opportunity given the foreign stranglehold that seems to be gripping the division.
Perhaps I'm reading too much into it but he did seem to suggest that the ambition to get into the Championship when he joined us might not be there. He didn't say that outright but he did make a comment about how "when I joined the ambition as it was then was to get into the Championship", and also commented about losing multiple players the last couple of summers. Nothing aggressive or snotty what so ever, but it did feel like he perhaps thought it would be very difficult to go beyond where we are and that he was best cashing out.

Maybe it is maybe it isn't...had to have a go didn't he ?
As sports man you have to play or manage at the best possible level you can.
Plus the financial trappings...money isn't everything of course its just 99.95% of it.

Given that Apples used understatement like a mason uses a chisel I'd say that he did a bit more than suggest the appetite for success had, erm let's say, diminished. I suspect that he had discussed this with the boy for who the train set had started to lose it's appeal and thus we can for once take Eales at face value when he said he wasn't surprised when Apples left.

Great news. His input/influence must have been positive during his time there otherwise I'm sure he would have been replaced too. Best wishes, as always, MApp.

A good move for MAPP to stay there. Rounds his experience off and widens his contacts book in the game. Suspect he may naff at the end of the year, but under his own steam.
