I am sorry but what? FIFA have never had common sense as their motto! One day a player will take FIFA to Court as this could be construed as a constraint of Trade (OK he is getting paid but he can't play football to January? Madness) www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41118927

There must be a workaround. Player agrees to tear up contract with club. Moves on free transfer as a free agent. Buying club donates money to selling club.

This means he cannot play for another club until the next window is open, regardless of whether he rips up his contract or not.

Sent from my SM-G930F using proboards I have always questioned why footballers have transfer fees? Can you give any other examples of where you have to buy a sportsman or employee from an employer? I am surprised someone hasn't done something like the Bosman ruling and challenged the legitimacy of clubs "owning" a player. In the end, they are just an employee. You have weeks to get this done -rules are rules. 14 seconds or 14 hours, doesn't matter.

I suppose you are purchasing the right to own their contract, not the player themselves.
