After his poor performance against Cheltenham, he looked a different player against Stevenage very well composed.

Didn't he cost us a goal?
He's definitely not a bad player at this level it just hasn't worked out here at all

He's played two games against L2 opposition this season and we've let in six. In the league he hasn't set foot on the pitch and we've conceded two goals in four games with no more than one coming in a single match. He also played in pre season when we let in four against Brentford - twice the amount of goals we conceded in any other friendly match against other Championship clubs from Boro and Hull to Brum and Leeds.
He isn't good enough and he makes people around him play worse because they have to worry about / compensate for him. I would be horrified if he had to get a run of games for any reason. God help us if he has to play at MK this weekend.

He's woeful Last season he played 11 games and we won 4 - Brum in EFL, Merstham and Macclesfield (after replay) in FA Cup and Gillingham in the league. He played 32 games for Coventry in the previous season before signing for OUFC and they won 12 This season he's played 2 - was awful against Cheltenham and gifted Stevenage their second goal. Good job we were 5 ahead!

Although he gifted Stevenage their consolation by slipping over, during the early stages of the match when they were pressing, he made a number of good blocks and tackles, and played well.

I gage the general feel is that we're short on CBs (despite having spent half the summer joking about having too many), and with Martin as our only natural CB replacement (til Raglan comes back in the new year) people are worried that we'll have to spend half the season praying neither Williamson nor Nelson gets injured or suspended, as they may not feel comfortable with Martins on the pitch. And even if he does step up well, there will be no room for any other CB injuries/suspensions.
A more pressing question may be "how did Ribeiro play at CB tonight?".
Could he do the job adequately? With Dwight approaching fitness, and with Canice seemingly able to play anywhere on the park, we arguably have enough cover on the right to allow Ribs to move inside if needed. If he's up to the challenge then maybe we don't need to panic buy another CB before tomorrow's deadline.
***EDIT: I keep forgetting about Sam Long...

That's because it feels like he is always injured!

Ribs did ok. Let's be honest though, this wasn't much of a test.

If Nelson is struggling for the weekend then I hope to god that they don't play Martin alongside Williamson. Stick Carroll at RB and move Ribs into the middle. Martin playing at all is scary but alongside Williamson who doesn't have the pace to try to bail him out? Bloodbath.

A-Ron Martin is worse than Michael Raynes on the ball. That's mental.

I wouldn't worry too much about playing Him and Ribs in the centre against dons if Tiendali is fit enough to play RB and Nelson isn't available.
I'm not sure but I believe Ribs played most of his U21 Internationals at CB and is a reasonable header of the ball.
Centre backs don't worry me its the midfield where we need to find some consistency to take the pressure off the defence.. No defence in the world can play 90 minutes without conceding at least a couple of gilt edge chances to the opposition...otherwise there wouldn't be any goals

Ribs did ok. Let's be honest though, this wasn't much of a test. I disagree, Borough had a couple of Burly guys up front who put it about a bit.. Ribs and Martin looked pretty solid to me. very often its difficult to play against lesser players

I started the thread to point out his improvement from what I saw at Stevenage compared to previous performances. But it seemed a good opportunity for others to say how shite he is. At the end of the day he may have to stand in for Nelson on Saturday (lets hope not), lets just get behind him if he does, I can't imagine as a player your supporters calling you shite must be like on confidence at the end of the day he's in a yellow shirt.

Decent from him yesterday. Kept it simple and defended well.
Keep it up!
