I thought with Hemmings going I'd do a squad update as to see where we are actually short. I've left out injured/loaned out players.
GK: Eastwood, Shearer LB: Silva, Tendali RB: Riberio, Carroll CB: Williamson, Nelson, Moushino, Martin CM: Ledson, Ruffles, Xemi, Baptiste, Ashby AM: Payne, Mowatt, Rothwell WM: Henry, Hall, GvK CF: Obika, Thomas, Roberts
Looking at it we could maybe do with getting a CB in on loan, a wide player if Johnson goes unless Napa is seen as a player who can step up and a striker.

A CB is a must. Aaron Martin isn't up to it in my opinion. A loan would suffice given Raglan should be back for the second half of the season. Martin can be sent out on loan.
When MJ does go we'll certainly need another winger. Preferably someone with pace and the ability to beat a man. Jordan Graham would be great, but can't see it, so someone of that mould.
I also think we're a little short in centre midfield. It's a shame Pekalski is out because (from what we've heard), he'd complement Ruffels and Ledson well.
And now Hemmings is out the door, we need a striker. I'd like to see a proper target man that has good hold up play and is a danger from crosses. I'm not entirely opposed to Martinez on loan, as I think he'd score more frequently if he was in the team of a permanent basis.
I assume some of the youngsters (Napa, Baptiste, Roberts) will be sent out on loan, hopefully to Conference level minimum.
So, on that basis, I'd say we need another four players (assuming MJ does go), with at least 3 going out on loan (including Martin)

Graham came on as sub for Wolves on the opening day of the season and since then isn't even in the squad. They've got loads of extortionately priced players running through the club courtesy of the agent at present, a number of whom are wide and attacking. Why wouldn't it be worth putting in a loan offer? It seems pretty much nailed on that he will be lucky to even make the bench at present. What would we have to lose?

I agree, it does look like we need about 4 players looking at the opening post. Too many untried youngsters in there.
2 loans to cover for Pekalski and Raglan and 2 permanents: striker and winger

I don't think we've seen the last of Hemmings. Wouldn't be surprised if he's back in January. ATM it looks like Oxford have taken a financial hit on him as I can't see Mansfield paying a fee for him

According to Evans there were a number of Scottish PL, League 1 and league 2 clubs after him. Mansfield have an option on Hemmings, but I am assuming that this involves a fee. We will almost certainly not get back the £250K or so we were supposed to have paid for him though.

If there was loads of clubs in for him why would agree a future fee which is nowhere near what we spent on him? I'd have hoped that it would had been at leas 200k (if we did indeed pay £250k) and I don't see why we couldn't have said look give us what we paid for him, maybe over 5 years at £50k a year say?

Hemmings clearly in need of confidence building stretch in games..he may have other options apart from Stags at Jan. or be brought back. If he's happy to drop into L2 ..of course they could be top of the league..maybe

From what i have just worked out, if i am correct we have 21 first team players excluding First year pros, 20 if you count Thomas as an Injury. But he should be fit soon and hopefully not long term. Eastwood Shearer Ribiero Tiendalli Williamson Nelson Martin Ricardinho Carroll Hall Ledson Payne Ruffels Rothwell Xemi Thomas Henry Obika Van Kessel Roberts So PEP recently has been saying he wont buy unless he can find quality. Sometimes you need depth over quality i'd rather us consistency have a squad of 23 players and good depth then us just be looking for quality. If i remember correctly PEP said he doesn't want to go into the loan market (something like that) so that means that tomorrow we should in my opinion get 2 players in. Yes we have a few injuries Raglan and Pekalski Long and Ashby who will add depth but won't be back match fit until roughly January/February at the latest as competition and a few coming back in January, But if your telling me that we are going to survive 5 months without injuries then your deluded. We had the same issue last year we had the quality but not the depth and that is what ruined our Play offs hopes. I'm no football expert but the lack of depth in certain areas is quite risky in my opinion. 3 Strikers 3 Wingers, 3 fit CB all with Injury history. Daryl needs to get his check book out tomorrow if he is serious about being a championship owner, as we have a lot of quality but not a lot of depth currently.

24 players I make it now in the squad. I'm fairly happy with what we have until the new year.
I think we will see us spending money on a striker in the new year.

Small point but Carroll seems to be the back up left back. Tiendalli also seems to be used at right back.

Not sure how reliable the source is,. I don't see him getting anywhere near the first team now anyway.

according to that Thomas and Martin are worth more than Nelson Transfermarkt is a load of bumwash...in Germany too. Remember it once had a picture of Paul McCarthy as a black teenager.

Agreed, some of the stats are bumwash, but which of those details on contract expiration are incorrect? That's the issue, not the degree to which Transfermarkt is bumwash
