Apologies if in the wrong section...
People at work have suggested that it wouldn't be good if we were promoted to the Championship.
I know that the standard is getting better and better but.... Is anybody watching the Burton v Birmingham game? I can't believe that we can't beat either of these sides. So yes bring it on. IF (I appreciate it is odds against) we do go up then give it a go and there is no reason at all we couldn't make a decent fist of it.
Oh and come on Burton!

I often imagine an alternate timeline in which we got promoted via playoffs last year. McAleny, Lundstram and Mapp sign long deals, bring in the players we have + few more quality signings (maybe even a 20 goal striker). Of course, this isn't a complaint about the squad now, v. happy with how we've started. However, being the championship may enable to keep our best players rather then selling on, eg. Marv, Ledson, Nelson. I don't think there was too much between us and teams like Sheff.U/Bolton, just a couple of players away who we could have added over summer, like that Lindsay lad who went to Barnsley. Hey ho.

I would of loved going up last season, if we had got relegated straight back a promotion and a season at a higher level is still better than mid table obscurity. The whole point of the sport is to try and play at a high as possible level, we haven't played at championship level for nearly 29 years so don't get how anyone could not be excited at the prospect.

I often look at clubs and think which "model" would suit us best. I think Burton are well run in the Championship & Burnley in the Prem...we could fit in somewhere in that model...maybe, with the wind in the right direction.....

I'll assume that was a typo, and you meant to write 20 years! But yes, agree absolutely. And there is of course absolutely no reason why we couldn't 'Do a Burton' and avoid relegation in the Championship. With good management, we could pull together a competitive side. The only thing to say is that, the way the Championship is now, we would have a tiny budget compared to much of the division, so whilst we might reasonably expect to finish above some of the basket case sides, finishing in the top half of the Championship would probably be an unreasonable expectation at the moment.....and indeed will be until we sort out the stadium and find better ways to increase our revenue streams.
