I was suprised recently when the AFF Suzuki Cup was played. To realise how big football is over here in the Final which was Malaysia vs Indonesia, there was over 70,000 for the Malaysia leg and over 88,000 for the final leg in Indonesia. Even in the Philippines they had over 70,000 Shows its just not England that gets massive support for its national team. Link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_AFF_Suzuki_Cup

I think in countries where there is no strong club football the national team is the main footballing focus in the country, so perhaps not such a surprise, though those are pretty impressive numbers.

Anyone been watching the Asian Cup from Qatar? I watched a few games on Eurosport and thought that the standard was quite high, Japan in particular were outstanding. But I had to miss the semi-finals and the finals so I have no idea who won. Anybody?

And Australia romped into the final. It was 4-0 last bit I saw.
So Japan v Australia, could be a tasty match.
