Doesn't surprise me in the slightest. He's falling out of favour at Old Trafford, and will no longer be able to justify his £300K a week salary. So what next? If money is your motivation (as it is with Rooney), just go to a country where the teams are happy to pay you £600K a week.

His agent is in China to negotiate a deal at the moment. If he goes, good riddance. A selfish, greedy but talented player. Ibrahimovic looks a better player and is older.

In all walks of life, we all move for more money. If Company X offered me significantly more for doing the same job, my current employer would have my resignation letter in their HR department within minutes. Footballers are no different in that regard with the exception that their wages are astronomically high. As fans, we expect players to have loyalty. As a job, footballers are fully entitled to move wherever they want to go. That said, the allure of living in a smog filled Chinese city, playing with talented but past it has beens in a league whose moment in the sun seems short lived if the Chinese government crack down on it is not one that would appeal to me. Also, I wouldn't have a clue what to do if I earned £300k a week let alone £600k! What sort of rubbish does Wayne Rooney waste his wages on? (Aside from prostitute grandmothers).

I think the Chinese authorities have had their crackdown by limiting the number of foreign players. Also, the Communist Party have made it public that their policy is to make China a world footballing power, hence a large growth in football academies along the lines of their approach to other sports like Gymnastics.

Nagh. I do not ink Rooney will go to china. If he genuinly is a deal he might do for 1 million a week i do not think i know a football that would deny that kind of money! But i dont think the offer is real. just a conspiracy

Don't disagree, but I don't go into work and kiss the badge and overtly pledge my allegiance to the company to curry favour. Nor posture about like a moron or play on that loyalty of the customers to bully the company into paying me well above market rate. He wants adulation and loyalty, but pisses on it when more money is there. Just be honest enough and say I'm in it for the money. Would respect him more if he did.
