OK.. Just watched BBC2 and them Russian chaps , and how they smashed the so called England lads ( Who could not fight thier way out of a paper bag ) my thoughts are how the Russian chaps would have got on with the top firms from the 80s , well even us in our top days, they seem total way out there and who in thier right mind can follow England there . 7 trained fighters on 1 England beer lad , yeah seems fair.

I would focus more on the difference of our societies than the fairness of the fight. They are better hooligans because they come from a tougher society. Our society is all Whetherspoons and seats, while their's is not quite so 'comfortable'.
Let's appreciate that we are up for a fight but we are soft. Let's embrace this softness and use safety in numbers. If we want to fight in Russia, we need to embrace the 'mighty ducks' philosophy. No one attacks ducks because they flock together. We can form big groups and all hold hands, so we can't be broken.

The worrying bit about that programme was their arrogance when it was mentioned that anyone male be it on their own or in a group is a target. That's not how it should be.

The way Weatherspoons is expanding they might be there by the world cup though, going to be strange eating a large breakfast standing up.

I was around in the 70s and 80s and there were 2 reasons why we were respected throughout the world: British Bulldog and Brian Inglis' "All our Yesterdays". We used to run around every day knocking great bloody lumps off of each other and then settle down in front of a lesson in strategy from Monty, Bill Slim or Admiral Jellicoe. That's the learning that brought the Hun to his knees; twice! What do our kids get today? Fingering their gameboys while Chris Patten twitters on about shutting gates to stop horses bolting, then they're out slipping Rohypnol in white girls' drinks so they can put her ankles behind her ears and video themselves doing her up the arse. TOWIE - the role models of our kids. That's why the Russians are ruling the roost at major football tournaments. I'm prepared to give up Cohibas so I can do my bit. Is anyone with me? We can take Moscow - just look at Napoleon!!

The worrying bit about that programme was their arrogance when it was mentioned that anyone male be it on their own or in a group is a target. That's not how it should be. This is true. For me, football is simply about football. I’m not interested whatsoever in the hooligan side and consider it an irritating subculture that provides ammunition for people who dislike football to justifiably criticise it further and gives those who simply enjoy games (and the day out that goes with it) an unfair bad rep. However, I know the hooligan side exists and even when pushed underground will probably never stop in some capacity. I recall speaking with an ex-Sheffield United firm member on one occasion. He justified his position by saying that he was only ever involved in firm-on-firm violence, away from the stadium and never involving ‘shirters’. Not my scene at all and not something I can really see the point of, but as long as my team isn’t tarred with their brush and that those who are there for football alone aren’t involved, do what you like to each other. The Russians on that documentary didn’t seem to fathom that point. Most, if not all, of the interviewees seemed to think that all England fans were up for a fight – perhaps their reputation preceded them – and attacked all at will. That isn’t right. Plenty were there for the sun, booze, singing and football but not for Fight Club with knuckle-dusters and iron bars. You could see some people attempting to get out of the way only to be punched and kicked. I don’t think that the documentary told us anything new that we didn’t learn at the time. The hooligans were from a state-sponsored fans’ group, had trained in an MMA/militaristic way and viewed their methods as the new form of Russian nationalistic masculinity divorced from football. The Russian authorities, if they can be bothered, have a tall order to make their World Cup memorable for the right reasons.

I do wonder what Jeremy Corbin thinks of this. In a way some of 'our' hoolies are 'state sponsored' by benefits, just not in the same class as the Russian mobs. If, such organised and sponsored hooliganism existed in England - would we have the opportunity to host a World cup? Probably not. As it stands it's odds on there will be carnage in Russia for the World cup.

Yes all good points. Now l do not feel sorry for the England fans who attacked the police with bottles. But as been said it looks like lots of England fans just got attacked for just being there . That is wrong.

As an aside, I've just seen the ticket prices. For non-natives, the cheapest ticket (category 3, group match) is $105 or around £85. The final for category 1 is $1100 or £885.
I think I paid around €40 for a QF ticket for the Euros in the summer.
Where do FIFA think they can get off at charging those prices?! UEFA may be shady but they're realistic.
The category 4 rate for locals are hell of a lot cheaper. I can see a lot of touting going on. The Russians will make a mint from anyone wanting to go.

According to FIFA, "Russia will offer international visitors the most dynamic possible experience of the 2018 FIFA World Cup™. No doubt we will play our games in a city called(according to FIFA) Ekaterinburg, which when you look it up isn't called that at all but Yekaterinburg, which also used to be called Sverdlovsk,so no chance of confusion. www.fifa.com/worldcup/destination/stadiums/stadium=5031304/index.htmlThere was an anthrax outbreak in Yekaterinburg (then called Sverdlovsk),which was attributed to a release from the Sverdlovsk-19 military facility. So at least we can get a bit of thrash metal in between fights and football.

Why is the FA even thinking about going to the World Cup in 2018? The Russians got it because they bribed a corrupt FIFA and it's common knowledge that most Russian "athletes" are drug cheats. I have no doubt that their footballers are no different. It would also save us the embarassment of yet another England failure. Same with Qatar, what a f***ing joke that is. .

Howeveryou can guaranteed that the FA are far too spineless to make a stand against either venue even though we were cheated out of holding the 2018 tournament here.
