Noticed before game on Saturday that the farmland opposite the stadium is littered with archeology test pits, which is now required by law ahead of any building work.I was under the impression that new housing on this land was still a matter of much debate.test pits like these were excavated on the new Barton park about 3 months before the housing groundwork began.some kind of deal with kassam maybe?

I suspect more likely they are testing the soil but much to the same effect. I haven't seen the test holes but it would suggest someone is contemplating building work. Having said that these tests are relatively cheap so it could be speculative.

If it's archeological digs then it does not necessarily mean a pre-empt to building. There was a lot of interest in the area because of the Priory. A lot of stuff was found which indicated that the site was probably much larger than first envisaged. They could just be continuing to search for more of the settlement. Caught my eye as the dig was carried out by John Moore Heritage Services, John is an old drinking buddy from days in Oxford! Skeletons found

The actual area has archaeology. There are roman kiln sites dotted along the course of the stream.

Can't be charlie said it will never happen Whereas you reckon development south of Grenoble Road is imminent? Come on! Put your money where your mouth (almost) is.... Along with most of the other clowns on your oddly un-positive positive bus, you reckoned development would never happen at Water Eaton. Until CDC said that it would. So you were wrong there. Let's see who gets it right this time, old boy.

Where have I ever said it is imminent. Quit with putting words in people's mouths and name calling charlie, I know it's part of your job description but it doesn't suit you. You don't think it slightly odd that within the last month we have seen plans for a development there (the one including 8 sports pitches) and that archeological work has started on the exact same site ? ? And just one other point while you're trying to squirm away from never being wrong , I have never said development wouldn't happen at WE (spin again) I said I couldn't see CDC giving permission for a stadium . We will certainly see who's right, not forgetting that u said there was virtually no chance of us ever getting the Kassam, still can't wait to see you tucking into that ox horn cap on that one if it happens Although you have cleverly changed the argument on both points to make it more likely for you to be right, now saying that we might get the Kassam but it won't be big enough, and there will be building on WE of something. Good to cover all those bases any other predictions like Christmas happening within a year ?

I am sure I read some months ago the had ear marked the land opposite the ground to build houses?
I thought the long term plan was to build houses and the Kassam stadium would be in the middle of it all.

So it is a long-term plan by people who have no say in the planning process.

So...you couldn't see CDC giving plans for a stadium (basic, easy exceptional circumstance for breaking green belt; been done all over the country), but you could see them breaking green belt for a major resi housing development (much tougher). I must introduce you to some property mates of mine up in town. With your foresight, they'd make fortunes. What a soothsayer! I originally said that CDC would give permission for a stadium at WE, and that SODC would not give permission for planning south of Grenoble Road. You said the opposite. CDC have not ruled out permission for planning at WE (and since have granted a higher bar in the area on greenbelt) whereas SODC have reiterated their clear opposition to any development on THEIR green belt. Stretcher! On the Kassam, I said that it made no financial sense unless Oxford City Council played a major role to enable a sweet deal. I stand by that. I then said that if they followed through and did that, I'd eat my hat, as they'd promised such help before and had failed to follow through. Which I thoroughly hope to be proved wrong in and to stage the bull hat eating. I will be delighted, truly delighted, to be proved wrong. Whereas I fear that for you, being proved wrong is a real psychological problem. If one were mischievous, one might go back and drag up some rather different views of the OUFC Board spouted by you over the last two years, no? Come on. Say it. It's fun.

Bring up what ever views you like of the board Charles, over the last two years I would have no doubt they will be very complimentary and supportive, have they changed recently on certain issues, yes. That's because a lot has changed recently. My view and opinion of Darryl as a football chairman based on the football is still the same. Best we have had. if you really still think that us playing in a 20k stadium at WE in 5 years time is going to leave me annoyed and depressed then you're even more delusional than I thought. Amazing how my view is so short sighted and silly, yet it's the same as oxvox who have done a lot more work on it and come to the same conclusion .The issue is you can't seem to accept that other people have a different view, instead of just saying ok that's fair enough, you will just post the exact same costing and attendance figures post over and over. I'm wrong, oxvox is wrong( although they are now right for getting it but will then be wrong and have to move it, ) Darryls wrong for not trying to buy a stadium that's wrong. The council are wrong, and Mapp was wrong for not being mickey Adams. So that's just about everyone who's wrong and Charlie that's right. you still seem to miss the point that I will be happy either way, you may say you will be truly delighted but come on be honest, we all know around 1 week after getting the deal signed, the attendance post will pop up again, with you saying now oxvox have it they need to push for a move away

Which I thoroughly hope to be proved wrong in and to stage the bull hat eating. Is this a gentry thing? Do your livestock wear hats? Would it not be more convenient to each your own hat? Or is your head larger than the average bull's? Are your bulls average (surely no!)? Indeed 'thoughts time mocks cumber Rome' this morning; I shall away and ponder why scoob spent 3 hours penning an unwritable doodle.

It would be virtually for any developer to secure planning permission south of Grenoble Road as it stands; it is designated Green Belt land and has no allocation for development in local planning policy. Nor has any planning application been submitted for the site.
SODC are currently preparing a new local planning policy document and as part of that they will be required to decide on a strategy for directing development and will also be required to search for sites to meet their housing supply requirement. This plan is unlikely to be adopted for a least three years, however they have already stated, as a result of the early consultations, that Green Belt land around Oxford will NOT be built on (it was a potential option). This is unlikely to change.
That being said, a quick search of their application register showed that Savills submitted an application requesting an Environmental Scoping opinion in June 16 (not an application for planning permission). This is often done as a precursor to large developments, so either someone is preparing a substantial application for the site, or, more likely, someone is planning to submit the site to the SODC consultations and effectively try to lobby the Council to include it in the upcoming policy document, which is a long process.
Trust me, any development on this site would be a long way off, and in my opinion unlikely to happen anyway.
