Coming up 30,£25 million to a club that sold him for £10 million 18 months ago ? David Sullivan has accused the player of lack of respect !! DAVID SULLIVAN the porn baron, lack of respect "The Hammers insist they did not need to sell Payet and joint-chairman David Sullivan said he wanted the player to stay to "make an example" of him" Yes course you did David, but then found 25 million reasons not to.

Not sure what you expected them to do with a player who decides he doesn't want to play for them anymore, they wanted 30 million were offered 20 and then accepted 25 which is good business from west ham.
They could have just let him rot and never kick a ball again but would still be paying him but that wouldn't balance the books would it.

Because those silly statements got the price pushed up from 20m to 25m! Don't take any of this stuff literally, it's all a game!

Plus there was also the possibility that Payet might have backed down and agreed that he has been a d*ck, and call off his stupid strike (a bit like Berahino did). It didn't happen, but Sullivan and Bilic had to send out a very strong message that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.
Another factor in their decision is that West Ham have now climbed from the relegation slots up to 8th in the Premier League and are now doing alright without him.

West Brom and West Ham have similar sounding names. West Ham are actually 10th, but the point still remains the same. They're doing alright without the disruptive influence that is Payet.

I am assuming that Mr Payet didn't pay back his £1M 'loyalty' payment?

I am assuming that Mr Payet didn't pay back his £1M 'loyalty' payment? No, but West Ham did get 500k through wages for the last month.
