Just seen this: www.yellowarmy.co.uk/minutes-applause/I don't think it's a good idea, devalues remembrance in my opinion. Do I recall correctly that someone is actually employed by one of Darryl Eales' companies to run Yellow Army initiatives?

I agree with this, it is special when this happens. To do it every game would make it less special.

Not every game thanks
That would be like having rememberence sunday every week and would totaly devalue the thing.
And when a new death occurs it would not be a special moment for that person would it?
Daft idea

I understand the intention, but it could become mawkish and hard to maintain. Why not have a game where there is a minutes applause for fans who have passed away in the past year? It would be more poignant

It's a 'no' from me. Dilutes the process. Save it for specific cases like Mr Mangan's.

It's a no from me too.
It feels like just because it was a special moment on Sunday we should then do it every week. It was special as it was a unique moment for that time due to the passing of a young fan. It was done in the 20th minute due to how young he was.
If you want to remember all the yellows fans that have passed do a minute applause before the last game of the season. Not every week.
I feel this idea didn't have a lot of thought go into it.

Also a no, personally I'm not a fan of the clapping etc during a game
I can see why it's a good idea when done before a game but in general I'd prefer that to be kept just for players and for those who have worked within the club.
I saw villa do something at the end of the season one year where they had a picture, name and ages of all fans who'd died during the season and had a bit of an applause, probably a minute long, much more appropriate.
If an individual one was done for everyone connected to the club in any way then you'd end up having one at almost every home game which as has been said would dilute the whole meaning as people wouldn't engage with them every week.

I think the minutes applause should be for individual fans that the Oxford united family have lost which sadly is all too frequent, but I think much like we have a military day we could have a rememberance day once a season when families can remember their loved ones

It's coming up to the 9th anniversary of my dad's death. I don't feel the need to clap him at every home game, I remember it was him that got me following Oufc in the first place, I know every game that if he could, he would be sat there next to me. Like others have said keep it for sad current losses, with maybe something at half time on the last game to mark all Oufc fans that have been lost that year.

Great sentiments, especially for us older supporters who all know someone who has shuffled off.............. but No. Not every flipping game.
The "one offs" like for Lewis absolutely.

I actually agree with this. There used to be a one minute silence or clapping before the game which I think makes far more sense. I totally get that there should be some recognition of the young supporter who lost his life, but what happens if a team scores during the minutes applause? Or a penalty decision is given? Does the applause stop and people cheer?

Good intentions but totally inappropriate . Sunday worked and was relevant lets not dilute the sentiment . No from me. Agree with this. Would like to add a brick or alike to those on the wall of the South Stand but it's beginning to look a bit tatty now. Certainly the sort of thing we could pay more attention to if we owned the ground. I wouldn't trust Stadco to oil a squeaky hinge let alone keep remembrance plaques in good order.

Sorry but it's a no from me too.
I noticed that Bolton had a display case with a memorial book that has fans names who have passed away on its and its dated and turned every day so on their anniversary it's on display at their stadium. That would be a cracking idea at Grenoble road if ever possible.
A memorial garden where ashes could be scattered and families could go to remember U's fans who have passed away would be a nice touch.

Seriously, don't water down the effect that a minute clapping or silence has for a just passed away supporter.

A quite ridiculous and strange sugestion. But as with all nutty ideas, modify them and you may have something!
I'd say we keep the current way, between the club and the fans we know when it is right to publicly acknowledge the passing away of club stalwarts or fans. Maybe in the final programme of every season there could be a page dedicated for fans etc who have passed away that season. Let family members / friends write in if they want to highlight an Ox fan who has passed away. Kind of the like BBC Sports Personality where they have a section acknowledging those sports stars that have passed away in the last 12 months.

I can see where these lads are coming from, it's perhaps the first time many have lost a friend of their own age and it sounds like he was part of the young ultras group at matches. So there is presumably a much bigger link between going to the football and missing their mate.
Nonetheless, spontaneous tributes are the way to go, whether it's minute's applause at a home game, or Rosie mentioning a loyal fans death at half time.

Firstly, thoughts with everyone connected to Lewis whose funeral is today. Hope the young lad gets the send off he deserves. . Secondly, I'd be very surprised, and I'm happy to be corrected, if its the ultra lads who have come up with this idea.
The Yellow Army (whoever that may be) came up with this and have since pushed it via social media. They are a totally different group to the Ultras.

It was a tragic event, but if we did this for every OUFC fan we lose in a season, we would be clapping 3-4+ times a game.
Keep it as a one-off, maybe have an anniversary clap.
