He wins promotion with Grimsby. He is still an Oxford player, I doubt we will see him again though.

IMO he's better than Bowery and Waring Probably cheaper too.

Likewise, I think he will be gone. Is he out of contract as I thought he signed an 18 month deal with us? Nice to see it was his shot that led to the final goal as well.

It just hasn't happened for him with us. He's clearly a decent footballer and seems like a decent bloke also. I don't think we'll see him in yellow again, but good luck to him - his commitment has never been a question.

And a year before Bowery was worth 1m and playing premier league while paddy was playing Irish football. Was worth a shout, top scorer in his league could easily have been the next vardy or it could have turned out how it did. Wasn't as bad as some would have u believe but good luck to him, hope he goes somewhere and gets his form back

He is out of contract but we have an option on him. Think it's unlikely we will activate it though. I quite liked Hoban, his hold up play was exceptional. If he had scored a few more earlier, his confidence may have led to a better return. Never looked potent enough for me but always gave 100%.

Will remember Hoban for his assists against Bristol and Notts County and the eventual tap in vs Luton. Hopefully he can settle at his next club.

Just one of those players not quite quick enough to adapt to English football - both in the head and physically. There are some great attributes to Hoban's game - totally selfless, useful at flick ons and could hold up the ball well. However, as a striker of his ilk you've got to be scoring. He hasn't done that at either us or Grimsby.
It's a farewell to Hoobs from me. I wish him well whenever he ends up.

I like his story and his attitude, however it was questionable whether he'd make it in L2 therefore he's definitely not the player we need for L1. Good luck to him though, he seems a decent chap.

If Hoobs had scored at least 10 this season and with his heading ability and his hold up play I would definitely taken up the extra years option

He must have an excellent agent after not setting the world alight for us in league 2 and then not doing much in the conference.
Good luck to him as he does seem a nice guy.

I was a big fan of Hoban. His link up play was very good. Pity he couldn't get the goals but mansfield may be a better fit for him. If he gets off to a good start they may have a player on their hands.

If he had stayed at Dundalk, he could be playing in a Europa league (league match) winning team.

he is one of the worst players i have ever seen play for the club I started attending regularly with a season ticket (home and away) in our relegation season. Take out the last 2-3 seasons and that would, sadly, make Hoban one of the best strikers I've seen play for the club.

he is one of the worst players i have ever seen play for the club You must be young! i wish - i understand that he probably isn't worse than a lot of the older generation, but in the modern game he had nothing to offer but effort. he didn't score for almost 20 games in a good side as a striker!

he is one of the worst players i have ever seen play for the club You're lucky you never had to watch Manny Omoyimni, Ian McGuckin or Lee Jarman!!!! None of them would have got into our worst Conference team, and some of those players should have been reported to trading standards for impersonating a footballer.

Admittedly awesome in a way which meant he vanished for multiple games then popped up with the occasional belter...but awesome nonetheless Peter Fear should always be included on all worst Oxford players list for being both a) crap and b) a complete tool
