Diving header against the scum in 1969 when we knocked them out of the League Cup.
RIP Davy, I'll never forget that goal.

It's always terribly sad to read this sort of news. I clearly remember him playing for Scunthorpe at the Manor in our 1967/68 Division III promotion-winning season shortly before I moved away from Oxford. Scunthorpe were near the bottom of the division, but surprisingly beat us. He then signed for us later in the season in an exchange deal with George Kerr, who later on became Scunthorpe manager.

Very sad. He was a cracking player for us on the right wing. Makes me realise how young I was when I started supporting the club.

Loved watching David Sloan. I remember one game at Villa Park when he had spare tickets and gave them to me and my dad. Sad Loss

Before my time but very sad to hear. Oxford's first international player. Hopefully the club will do something fitting for him.

One of my favourite players in late '60's early '70's era, scored the winner against the scum in 69/70 League Cup (they were the holders!) RIP David

I might be wrong, but didn't Kevin Keegan also play for Scunny that day? I went to the game. RIP David Sloan

I know that Keegan was a contemporary of Nigel Cassidy at Scunthorpe, which was a few seasons later.

David Sloan was a terrific little player, he had such a spring on him when leaping for a header that he outjumped many a 6ft plus centre back. The way he tore Forest apart in the League Cup at the City Ground and the partnership with Kenny Skeen was wonderful to watch. Thank you Davey and will see you again one day.

15 seconds silence at half time.. Is that good enough?

I wondered about that. It would probably have been better to have done nothing at all. It didn't help that a couple of the subs were kicking a ball around for the first few seconds.

It was odd. A mate of mine who came along who isn't an Oxford asked what he'd done to deserve a Quarter of a Minute's Silence.

I agree, it was a slightly odd moment. Either a full minute or maybe a mention and a profile/obit in the programme?
